I love reading the many and varied posts on TOV. I've noticed that several of you post in the wee hours of the night (morning?). Poll: Are you Night Owls by choice?

Definitely!! I worked graveyards most of my career and still haven’t become “normal” yet. At least I am able to fall asleep around 2am now.

I go to bedbbetween 1am and 2 am and unless I have an appointment I get up between 9 and 10:am, I like night better then day and usually watch a movie starting after 12 here, but years when I’m away in winter whether it’s Hawaii Miami Beach or Thailand I would be out somewhere, same in summer I would be out after 12 in Boston. I’m 82 and this routine suits me , I hope those days come back soon

I wake up several times during the night and light reading helps to fall back to sleep

Sleep about 4 hour per night. Call for 40 plus years changes your sleep habits.

We still live on the west coast. Even though I am a night owl it makes it look even worse. lol

I am definitely a night owl. I don’t watch t.v. much but am an avid reader.

As a former jazz musician night is day.

UK is five hours ahead of us (lots of Brits on here), Western Europe is 6 hours. Before covid we spent summers in France. US 8 pm was our 4 am.

It’s 2:30am. Hoping this morning to see the planets, and stars. So far clouds are in the way.
In the warm months I run at this time, plenty of light, and except for the occasional community watch, cars are almost nonexistent. I usually try to sleep by 3am, always up before 7am.
Everyone said I would 💤 when I retired, been almost four years, it’s not going to happen.

Used to be a night owl (even as a baby!) but at age 50 everything changed and :boom: I'm now asleep by 10 and up at 6. Maybe it's because I discovered sport at that age, and much prefer doing it in the morning.

Morning guy. Up at 1st light. Thank goodness the days will start to get longer! Love the sunshine.
I'm lucky if I get to bed by 2 am. I'm often awake all night and go to sleep at sunrise. This is why my neighbors sometimes refer to be as the vampire:) I wish I could get to sleep earlier but when I try I just lay there wide awake.

Have been a night owl since early teens (had to read under the covers)! Every job has required up no later than 5:30 a.m., though as a retiree can “sleep in” until 8:30. However, still go to bed between 1:45 and 4:00. There’s nothing worse than laying in bed unable to sleep; I’d rather stay up or get up & learn something!!

Not a night owl on purpose and definitely not a morning person. I don't like getting up at Zero Dark Thirty a.k.a. Ass-hat O'clock. LOL

Go to bed early (hubs choice). Usually wake up around 3 am. So fortunate to have friends all over the world (Barcelona, S Africa, Canada, Australia). Someone is awake always!

I wish you people would finally read the deed restrictions.
The rule in the Villages is to go to bed no later than 9 to 10 PM and wake between 3 to 5 AM.
I follow the rules.

Night Owl kinda by choice. Hospital RN 1976. Had to start on 3-11:30 shift & work my way to day shift. 2nd shift seemed to work better with my body clock. Hated 11-7;only worked that for one month. Was on days for years, hated getting up at 6. Went on SS Disability in 2000. Usually went to bed after The Tonight Show monologue and got up between 9 & 10. That was my best routine by far. Then a new TV show came on & I was staying up 'til 2. Then I developed insomnia and had to start taking drugs. I've been on them for so long that they're not very effective any more so I've added 1/2 tab of Dramamine to my mixture. I generally go to bed at 4am, wake up once to go to the bathroom then back to bed until around 1:30. I have my phone on 'do not disturb' until 1pm. I use C-pap with O2 & some nights are fine but other nights I fight with my nasal pillows because my sinuses clog up & I can't breathe.
On the nights that I could not fall asleep by 6 or 7am, I would go to McDonald's for an Egg McMuffin. I couldn't believe how beautiful that time of day was! I felt like I had so much energy & was happy. So now I'm at total odds with The Villages life (especially the lawn mowers at 8:30am) and am grumpy & sad when I get up in a darkened room. Oh well. :sigh:
