We have the 2 sliders to the lanai. We have just kept the blinds closed until recently we enclosed the lanai so we keep the sliders open for AC out there.

I have a Baja courtyard villa, and never liked the design with two sliders to the lanai, but I've never even considered replacing the bedroom slider. I just keep the blinds closed, and after eight years now, I don't even think about it anymore.

I had the bedroom slider removed in a Gardenia designer home about 7 years ago. I think Harbortown Homes did the removal and wall rebuild. I do not remember the cost my guess around $2500. Definitely was worth it. Provided a wall to hang a large flat screen in the lanai and the master bedroom looks a lot better. The builder has stopped putting sliders in the master to the lanai in new gardenia builds.

There may be building code requirements about a second means of egress from a bedroom. A window of sufficient size is acceptable. Just know what you're doing.

Thanks for the replies. I will call Harbortown Homes Monday.

I have decided I would like the living room slider replaced with a much wider slider.
