Watched this last night on Netflix. Overall, I’d rate it a 3 out of 5. A bit slow, but good enough for an evening at home.
I wouldn’t pay $$$ to watch this at a movie theater.

I get Netflix so probably will watch it. Some of his movies are quite good; others not at all worth seeing. I almost walked out of The American, for instance.

Wow! This thread has really got me excited about the movie. According to Netflix, it's their number one movie in the country. Now, I don't know if I even want to waste the time. I still have 88 Golden Girl episodes on my DVR.

It was OK, barely OK. If you like fridgedness, snow, ice, Space views, spaceships, sloooow storylines, slooooow character development, holes in story, unbelieveable hokey space walk stuff, Hollywood being Hollywood - and did I mention sloooow - you will love this one. We even fastfowarded thru so many of the slow snow etc etc etc scenes, but still felt long. Only redeeming value was a character link at the end. I like Clooney, but sorry, 1 of 5 stars.

Well, I’d say it’s better than Golden Girls. Like I said, it’s good enough for an evening at home. It’s definitely not an action film.

Would totally agree. After watching this movie for I don’t know how long, I asked myself what is the point.

I thought it was better than what people were saying about it. I enjoyed it more than Wonder Woman 84

I agree 100%. It was deadly SLOW. I also fast-forwarded about 3 times, and wanted to turn it off, but kept thinking - it's got to get better, but ... it never did. i would give it at best one star.

Think I’d watch golden girls before Clooney movie...giving it a 3 was extremely generous. Kind of like watching paint dry!

My take is that Clooney got bored and made a low budget film for the fun of it ..... not a good movie ....

At least the earth wasn't destroyed by climate change. That seems to be a popular theme these days.

We watched it last night as well. I was excited as I like this genre of movie - space, light sci-fi. The movie has so much potential, but IMHO, fell pretty flat. In addition, in the end, we felt it was very depressing. I watch movies to be entertained, lifted, etcetera. This movie didn't do it for me.
Contrast this with Gravity, where I was tense - I mean physically tense - during several of the scenes, and the movie left me upbeat.
I know that not all movies have a happy ending, but this movie needed to be better to end the way it did.

Whew watched it too. I’m sure glad I didn’t pay to see it. I’d give it a 1 out of 5. Not much plot. It was hard to follow and unrealistic. Just my opinion.

Not one for George Clooney movies BUT if one ever gets the chance to watch Monuments Men, I think it was the best he ever did.
It was also based on actual historical events. (Some parts loosely I’m sure, but basic concept was factually correct)
Really excellent movie I’ve seen it more than once.

Very good movie. I wrote a FunTrivia quiz on the book of the same name-- They Stop Nazi Art Thieves, Don't They? Quiz | 10 Questions (https://www.funtrivia.com/playquiz/quiz361397295f1e0.html)

I thought the 1st Wonder Woman was good, but I like most all of the comic book hero movies.

Unfortunately, because of George Clooney, I made the mistake of watching this. Plodding, lots of lingering pauses, hardly any action. Actually, quite boring, in my opinion. Glad I didn't have to pay for it.

Netflix has been hyping Midnight Sky, so I fell for the hype and watched it the other night.
This is a science fiction story. The science was shaky, and the fiction was so-so. Took a long time to set up the plot twist at the end. This seems to be a vanity project for Clooney to star and direct, although he didn't look like his usual handsome self.
With my thick gray beard and gray hair, I actually look somewhat like Clooney in this flick, but I still wasn't impressed.

They'll have to pay me, at least for the time I wasted (20 minutes) watching that poor excuse of a movie.

I also thought the movie was horrible. Stuck with it until the end hoping it would get better, it did not.
We often watch a movie we have never heard of based on the actors, in this case we got jiped.
Who can I contact to get the time I wasted back?
P.S. In our house we gauge the quality of the movie by how long my wife stays awake. I can't tell you how many times we are looking for something to watch and wife wife asks, did we see that, and I respond, well you saw the first 15 minutes!

My favorite Clooney movie was Up in the Air. I believe he got an academy award nomination, and best picture nomination. I haven't seen Midnight Sky, and based on the reviews, I'll find something else to watch.

I have liked George Clooney since watching his first major movie From Dusk Till Dawn. He doesn't mind making some small audience no or little profit pictures, because as he said he can always make another Oceans movie to refill his coffers.

I'm glad I am not alone. One time a few years ago we were on Cape Cod and decided to go to a movie. It was Clooney in a movie that, as I recall was titled "The American". I can honestly say it is the only movie in my many years that I walked out on. Since then I have not gone to a Clooney movie since it was so terrible and I did not want to be taken as a sucker again!!:ohdear:
