A friend needs to rent a place for 6 months that is wheelchair friendly. He has 6 months of rehab to regain the use of his legs. Can't find anywhere. Even the Villages Hometown Property Management has no homes for rent that are wheelchair friendly. Any suggestions?

Most every home built in the Villages in the last ten years is built according to Universal Design principles, which enable aging in place.

There are 36 inch doorways. Lever handles on all doors. Rocker switches for lights. No steps. At least one bathroom with wheelchair turning space. Comfort height toilets. Many have a “Roman shower” which has a no-step entry and a seat. You will have to ask about the shower.

Biggest problem will be pulling a wheelchair up to a sink or a kitchen counter. No knee room. Also, toilet is most likely in a small room within the bathroom.

Ask again but be more specific about the features you need.

OP Unless someone specifically built or remodeled, Full handicap homes are not high on the list, in TV. In the last 3 years our oldest has every agent looking for that special Home, to further modify. So far no luck.
