This is something I would ask your designer for the latest information.

That being said.. Our house has a cooktop and a wall oven. We inquired about getting our own appliances and were told that the places for the cooktop and wall oven couldn't be left open. Pretty much forced to buy from builder. We could opt out of the dishwasher and refrigerator though.

We ended up buying our own refrigerator and washer/dryer.

If you're getting a freestanding range you might be able to purchase your own. Agian, best to check with your designer. And yes, you will get credit for the kitchen appliances you don't get through them.

As stated, did you sit with the design team or is that coming up. They do have different ones that you can select. From time to time they build spec house without appliances to keep the price down, called value homes. Our house was built and came with everything including washer and dryer which is not always included. We do need to upgrade our fridge as it is way too small for the space and no ice or water on the door.

I know one instance where the supplier of the appliances agreed to switch-out the unused appliances for different models prior to occupancy.

my wife gave me credit when I finally agreed with her that the appliances the builder
had put in were low end crap

so we went out and bought what she wanted

short money to get back to happy wife, happy life :):)

Yes, You can get an induction cooktop. When we built our house five years ago, the builder said that it was the first time he had put in an induction cooktop. Since then, I know of several folks who had induction cook tops installed. Personally, I would rather have gas but am not changing now.

I would think so. Mine is a range, not a cooktop, but the installation was simple. DH did it with no problem in just a few minutes. Place it and plug it in.

Personally, I think it is an excellent idea to upgrade from the builder grade.

For appliances that need to be roughed in, like a wall oven or cooktop, you would have to know the brand and model so that the cutouts could be done. Same with gas vs. electric, that would all have to be determined beforehand. I didn't build a home in the villages, but in my experience working on my own home and others, you need to know that info.

Yes. $2,800 credit for fridge, microwave, dishwasher and range. You can pick and choose individual pieces and take credit for the others that you decline

We did indeed swap out the appliances that came with our new home for different ones. We contacted The VIllages Warranty office and they put us in contact with the original contractor. It was no problem and we paid the (relatively small) difference.

We built in 2019. Did not use any of the standard appliances and got a credit. We bought a premium cooktop through the villages, as that was dropped in the quartz island. We gave them the exact appliances we were going to put into the wall oven openings.. They then crafted the EXACT manufacturers openings and provided the correct electric wiring and plugs to make for a seamless install by others a few days after closing.. The builder exacts a mark-up over retail.. and acknowledges that.. but we had no issues leaving blank openings for wall ovens, fridges and coolers ..
