I gotta say finding GOD is a good thing for Glenn. Like so many X addicts, X Alcoholics, X Felons, X etc., he is on the right track, but I find it mighty arrogant of him to act like the rest of the United States has been walking blindly toward the burning pit. Not everyone, like Glenn, needed years of being in a drunken haze to convince them to turn to GOD.
Sorry Glenn, been there and still there so get back to being the satirist comedian you are good at and stay off the evangelistic trail. I am not buying it.

Yes I do. I am a born again non smoker so I never complain to people about their smoking as I understand that it is frowned upon to do that. But I still drink my bud light and don't want to be preached to by a born again juicer. No offense.
I will say that many people feel that born again X types are the most passionate about their newfound sobriety, but it is often short lived so I am always leery of folks that recently SAW THE LIGHT. No offense, just cautious.
Wasn't this part saying something nice? I gotta say finding GOD is a good thing for Glenn.
By the way, I would never take relationship counceling from Bill Clinton.

Lou - The nice things about television is that the remote has a button where you can change the channel. I suggest you use it and go back to MSNBC to hear the bs and hatred they spew on a daily basis.

Glenn Beck's entire position is historical. Jefferson, et al based the entire premise of the Constitution on rights given to man by God. Beck's position is we need to refocus on the founder's values if we want to survive as a Republic. It ISN'T about Glenn Beck. If you WATCH his very successful program that point would be painfully clear. If you do not watch his program you are missing something powerful.:read:

Because of what sista wrote (very important quote) and more so, how it is written (without trying to make me feel stupid), I again try to get my point across. I openly admit that in many of my previous posts I would say anything once I felt angered or insulted. This is what Beck does to me. Yes that is totally wrong to do. It may be my Italian side. I also use my hand when I talk. Makes typing very difficult. I am not opposed to what Glenn says or even Limbaugh as much as I am opposed to how present it. You say watch Beck’s program and I do. I would like him quite well, as I agree with much of what he says. It is with my eyes open seeing his smirks and childish way of acting when he is talking about or referring to the left that I feel is done only to infuriate both the right and the left. I DISAGREE MOST WITH THE WAY THEY TREAT THOSE THAT HAVE A DIFFERENT VIEW THAN THEIRS. It could be more civil.
It is purely theatrical and, in my opinion does one good thing and two bad things.
Bad:
1. Further separates left from right.
2. Further divides minority groups from white groups.
Good: 1. Increases his ratings.
A few months ago, I was called a *%*$ when I said I voted Republican all my life until Sarah came on the ballot and I jumped parties. It is true. Now understand, I still agree with 80 % or more of the GOP Platform and only about 40 % of the DEM Platform. 90% of MS NBC is biased to the Left. I like O’Rilley and what he says almost all the time. He truly is the closest thing to fair and balanced on Cable. BUT, when I see the way, Limbaugh and Beck present their view, it raises my blood pressure. It sounds like a junior high student trying to start a fight in the playground. Now bear with me. If the Right would agree with me that they could tone it down and say the very important statements they make with a little civility and maybe kindness rather than in a way that would make the left feel different rather than stupid, I would be jumping back.
I understand that if I agree with 80 % of GOP views and 40 % of DEM views it seems simple that I would vote GOP.
There are hundreds of thousands of otherwise Democrat’s that vote GOP because of only one issue. Some are 95% DEM and 5% GOP but vote GOP because they are pro-Life and feel the GOP will help their cause with that one issue. So, if you can at least admit that Beck, Sarah and Limbaugh drive people apart in the WAY THEY PRESENT and you will have my respect and an ear that will be open to listen.
This administration does more "to drive people apart" that Beck,Palin and Limbaugh combined.

I also do not believe that continual harping about any messengers past is of any value if the current message is true, germain, applicable, real, not a lye and investigate-able!!!
I guess it takes a little more effort and understanding to disagree with a position without having to mud sling or talk down.

And I do, so is that his intent, to make me feel attacked rather than reasoned with in an attempt to gain my support for what he feels is the right direction for the country. Make me mad and you have one more enemy, educate me to your truth and you have an supporter. I do thank you sista for your directness and apparent honesty. You state fact and not just say things to aggravate the debate into an argument. You could persuade lots of left wing folks on the fence to fall off the fence in your direction. All I glean from this post is that Richie wants hate and disagreement rather than a coming together. I can be brought on board, but not when you continue to insult me. Richie, lets talk not insult and maybe we can agree on some things and agree to disagree on others. Would that not be a better approach?

Great post Villa2. You read it three times and agree with Richie. I will go back an read it all again myself. I may very well be wrong on this one. Like the fact that you are convinced one way and were not negative. I may even owe Richie an apology. Thanks for your direct yet civil comment.
I guess the message here is that if Glenn is right about what he says, how he says it is immaterial to the facts and I am thin skinned to take it personally when I think he is being mean to me and other liberals. That is definitely a possibility. I don't see the need to be mean, but maybe that is just his way of getting me to hear him. It don't work for me, but I can see his intent.

I agree that we should be concentrating on what the legislators in this country do and say everyday. Unfortunately without Glenn Beck and Rush Limbaugh we would not know what they're up to. They very seldom do or say anything of substance unless it is behind our back. There are so many things that Rush Limbaugh and Glenn Beck have exposed that we would be a great loss without them.

I won't disagree with Yoda's statement as it is true. Thats right, even Democrats feel we should be focused on what Washington is talking about and not Glenn and Rush. Its like watching a train wreck, ya just cant look away. If what they say is true it is of such great importance to the nation and must be stopped. They drive a wedge between the two parties that makes getting enough support to stop what they say they want stopped more difficult. You may not think they are not sarcastic, but hundreds of thousands of Americans do. And thousands of them vote with their feelings and not facts. That is done by both parties.
Let me rephrase the original question I asked for in this string: Do they wish to get support to change the country for the better OR do they wish the country to just throw insults back and forth? If you insult me with your opening line, my ears go closed. If you keep a civil informative tone, I promise I will listen and then you have a good chance of gaining my support. Please change the argument to a debate.
I know, I get it that if you like these guys, you support them no matter what they say or how they say it. Trust me, like Grandma always said, you can catch more flies with honey than vinegar. Now I ask again, do they want to help the country or do they want to keep the parties mad at each other? The more the parties fight, the higher their rating go at the expense of the country.
Now, for the reason I have became obsessed with this issue:
1. I voted for Obama, but I am getting concerned with some things that are happening and some things that have not yet got done.
2. I turn on The Factor and find myself nodding to the positive. Then Beck and I start grinding my teeth.
3. I remember my conservative roots and feel I am still in agreement with most conservative values.
Can anyone simply say that Beck and Limbaugh drive more support with their actions than they attract?
The Villages Florida could be the turning point in American Politics: Not wanting to sound to much like John Lennon, just imagine a group of retired Republicans and Democrats getting together in a recreation center conference room and work to make this country a better place to live. Being all Americans, we do not have to be them and us.
Now thats all I got to say about that.

You're impossible to debate with. You don't seem to understand a simple thought, or maybe refuse to, and use my own words in your reply to me. I'm glad others understand the point I'm making. I often speak with people who cannot listen, but this is ludicrous.
Then why is it that you continue to insult me? If I am such an idiot, please just ignore me. I am trying my best to give my support to YOUR party, yet you continue to try to drive me away. I just went back and read this entire string and Richie, I want to understand you, but you block my receptiveness with insults in your replies. Be civil and I will listen closely. PLEASE RICHIE. If I have peed on your tulips in the past, I apologize, but lets move on now.
I say the following with the most heart felt sincerity:
I type long maybe boring posts in here as well as starting this one. I pour my heart out in an attempt to give my opinion in a way that might just help someone else understand an issue from a different point of view. Richie, you must agree with something I write if not just parts where I agree 100% with the Conservative view. Yes there may not be a lot, but they are there. Yet you can take a 5 paragraph post from me and come back with a one line insult. I'm human and would love to say I never make a mistake, but I make plenty. So lets talk and not insult. It only distracts from making any progress. With or without you, I am going to try my best to get both parties on this site to talk without insulting each other. Yes I also have posted insults on this site and I am sorry for it. It did nothing but harm. I will do my best not to do it anymore. If you actually feel that I don't understand what you mean, then your right. I am sorry, I don't get you. That said, lets try not to let that stand in the way of progress. I may be stupid, but just maybe you are wrong. Either way, lets drop the insults and in the words of Rodney King, Cant we all just get along.

Villa, I think that's only part of the story.
If you ask the public if *this* plan (meaning the huge pile of paper Congress passed) is what they wanted, I agree - they say no.
However, when you start getting down to the nitty-gritty, the complexion seems to change. People DO seem to be in favor of aspects of it. In addition, the whole reason this came about was because of dissatifaction with the private insurers.
Hardcore Democrats are angry that the 'public option' went away. So they wouldn't count as supporters of this plan.
Hardcore Republicans who think that this is a government takeover aren't going to poll in favor of it. (Despite the fact that, to my eyes, it looks like a huge government giveaway to the private insurers)
I don't think anyone really has a handle on this (which is NOT a good thing). Polls on the subject are based on what people BELIEVE is in the bill - like the bit in another thread where people thought their employer-paid health insurance premiums were going to be taxed when the reality was far different.
So the polls are not based on facts but on beliefs and those beliefs are based on everything from fact to demagoguery.
What we DO know is that people are fed up with certain ASPECTS of the 'current system'. I don't have much faith that the new law will take care of those problems. We didn't get the debate on the subject that we should have gotten. What we DID get was a lot of screaming on both sides about so-called "death panels" and "don't let the government come between you and your doctor (that's where your insurance company bureaucrat belongs)", etc.

DJPLONG...you are correct in some aspects but I will add this and I suppose only time will tell.....
This health care bill was passed despite the majority of this country not wanting anything close to what was passed. We, and on the surface, our "statesman" felt that health costs were out of control and something needed to be done. This bill, while it will ABSOLUTELY CRIPPLE our economy in the future does NOTHING to address costs. That was lost in the back room dealing and the payoffs to have just something passed.
When you pass major legislation with payoffs and in the smoke filled backrooms then you are not doing the peoples business !

of Obamacare are positive in intebded result.
We can even hypothesize the American people got it wrong or do not understand.....what does any of that have to do with the fact the American people have over whelmingly SAID NO!!!!!!!!!!!
Obama and the lawmakers ARE NOT doing the will of the people. They couch what is not blindly supported by the herd in the fellonious tenor of "...there are many things that need to be done that are not pleasant...".
The lame and stupid answer to a simple situation.....we the people said no. And we did not elect anybody to do what ever they think needs to be done....WHETHER WE LIKE IT OR NOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is no longer a string that once had a very different direction and it has now turned into a bulletin board for whining and crying. Maybe we need a Thread for just shouting complaints with no intention of working on a solution. I will start another Thread and try to keep it focused on the title subject. I have truly lost track of what this one is trying to accomplish.

Seems when you critique someone as you did, you can expect those who like him to counter and that there be a discussion of the reasons for his polularity, dont you think ?
What did you envision when you began the thread with the comment above ?

my position..."
Doesn't leave much room for the supporters, as usual, maintaining if you don't support the Obama regime and direction you/we are out of order!!!!!!!!!!!!
Pray the message gets delivered in November 2010 and 2012. But I fear the rhetoric will be similar to that after the big loss in Mass....after the election was lost to the Republicans it was deemed by the spin doctors to be insignificant....as usual.

Here is this threads first post, by YOU...
"I gotta say finding GOD is a good thing for Glenn.

Well stated Bucco. You said it very clear and I do agree with your comments completely. On second thought, I should not have addressed the subject at all on this Site. In my defense, I just want to point out that I do not take spiritual advise from X people that just recently found the light. Sorry if I offended anyone.

ok...but again...WHY did you start the thread and did you expect everyone to just come on and applaud you ?
This is what you just said in alluding to your fellow posters...."....now turned into a bulletin board for whining and crying." . I assume you feel that way because they disagree with you !
Maybe read BTK's post for some clues as to why this movement has become strong and why the feeling is that if you are as far left as you are...and does not matter what you are saying on here, it always comes down to criticizing the right and defending the left...anyway, it just seems as if those from the left, as with our President, just KNOW what is right and we are expected to accept that you are smarter and therfore simply follow along or we are dumb, OR as you put it...".....whiners and criers"

Lou,
How can you possibly berate Glen Beck for sharing his love of country and God with his audience? Anyone who listens regularly to either his radio or Fox News show is fully aware that Glen is greatly concerned that our human rights which are bestowed by God (not government) are at great peril.
Less, than three weeks ago I was standing in Tiananmen Square and recalling how much China has changed over the past 20 some years, due in large part to those brave men and women who stood up to a repressive regime that denied it's citizens of their "God" given rights.
With the fragile state of our economy and a President and Congress that continues to ignore the will of the majority, it should be of little surprise that so many people turned out on 8/28/10 to support Glen Beck and his call for "Restoring Honor" not only to our elected officials, but to each one of us as well.
Today, many Americans feel that our freedoms are being blantanly stolen from us and if we don't stand up and be counted we and the generations to follow will have lost the America that was once......the Greatest Nation on earth.
The Restoring Honor Rally had over 500,000 attendees. It was a magnificent day for such a wonderfully inspiring and morally engerzing event. I met literally hundreds and hundreds of great folks from all over our country in a matter of a few hours.......and I owe it all to Glen Beck! He sure threw one heck of a party!!!!
So, Lou, whether you want to refer to Glen Beck as an "Evanganlist" or "Comedian" that's your choice.....but for those 500,000 plus people who came to the Lincolon Memorial on August 28, 2010.......Glen Beck was simply "A Great American."

Annabelle please go back and read how many times I have apologized for my post. See how I cowered down and said several times that I am sorry. I asked for forgiveness and you use the name of GOD in your non-acceptance of my request for forgiveness and then continue to beat me down. I don't know how else to say I am sorry.

I don't know what to tell you bucco. I have said I was wrong, I apologized to you and anyone else that did not comment if I had offended them. I said I should never have posted it on this site to begin with. I have said sorry numerous times for this post and yet you continue to pock at me. Why don't you tell me what would satisfy you and what I can say or do that will ease your anger with me and If I can I will comply.

Annabelle,
Great post. We were scheduled to go but had to stay here and show our house. (it is for sale)
I noticed the media, again, is down-estimating the crowd size. It sure looked like 500,00 to me.
Annabelle, you are a great patriot!!!!!

Watch Beck's show tomorrow. He is going to illustrate how many people were in attendance using the size of an audience that the mainstream media documented as 100,000 for an Obama speech that was given during his campaign to compare it with. It should be interesting.
Wall to wall people from the Lincoln Memorial to the Washington Monument which is a distance of .8 of a mile. That is a lot more people than the 87,000 CBS reported.

If that was a Summer of Recovery speech from the same area, the CBS would have reported 2 million!!!!
By the way, the summer of "recovery" is projected to have a net loss of jobs. Some recovery, huh?

I won't disagree with Yoda's statement as it is true. Can anyone simply say that Beck and Limbaugh drive more support with their actions than they attract?
.
See Glenn Becks rally.

I hope that conservative minded persons who are not religious are not driven off by the religious nature of the rally. The challenge for the future of this country is not about faith, or God, or religion. It is about core FISCAL conservative beliefs. I think fiscal conservatism owes this surge to Rick Santelli of CNBC, not Glenn Beck. He has the guts to tell it like it is.

With all due respect I will take whatever it takes. To straighten this country out may take a big tent.

I agree completely as long at the RINOs don't get back in power. I want everyone who is fiscally conservative to support that principal. I am afraid someone will try to equate religious evangelism with fiscal conservatism. Not all Fiscal conservatives are religious, and not all religious people are fiscally conservative. I welcome all fiscal conservatives.

Are you guys suggesting that if you are not religious you do not need to follow "the golden rule".
Even if you are not religious, Politics not based on religious principles is corrupt.

Do unto others as you would want others to do unto you. Beck even explained on O'Reilly last night that he welcomes everyone, even atheists to come together. Everybody can fit in the tent as long as they follow the golden rule.
