This site says it's a private worldwide health provider. I would never give out the information they are requesting, ss number, full name, birthdate, medicare number, etc. Opens yourself up to fraud.
The Villages News should have checked before posting. The US govt does not require any of this info for a vaccine. Beware.

I thought the timing was odd. Didn’t expect to be registering at 9:00 on a Sunday night. I stopped reading as soon as I saw they wanted SSN and insurance info. I’ve had enough phishing emails for the red flags to fly over this one.

There was an article about this on the front page of The Villages Daily Sun this past Saturday. Large scale vaccine distribution run by Global Medical Response. This was an announcement by the State of Florida Department of Health.

Unless I saw the article myself, I still wouldn't trust it. I tried searching the online version of the Daily Sun but could find no information about this.
I tried searching the Sumter County and Florida State Dept of Health but could find no information about this.
The link does not go to the Access2Care site - I have tested that.
The site the link goes to has the Access2Care and Global Medical Response logos but oddly, you can't click the logos to get to the official sites.
The only two links you can click on the saferestart.net page are the ones that ask for more information.
Saferestart seems to be about medical assessments and monitoring for returning to work and not about scheduling vaccinations.
As others have pointed out, that level of personal info should not be necessary to register for a vaccination.
And all of this might just be wrong and the site really is legitimate but I would not provide my information until I personally saw a notification from an official Govt source about this site.

I did provide the information last evening (reluctantly). This morning I had an e mail to sign up for a specific time. I scheduled tomorrow, 1/12/21. I received another e mail confirming my appointment with instructions to print the confirmation containing a bar code. If this is a scam it is very sophisticated since they had all my information last night. There is no need for two follow up e mails. We will see.

Definitely something odd going on.
- Some in here have said the site asks for a photo of insurance card, others report no information required
- Google shows it was on the DailySun facebook page but it isn't there now
- Some comments in one of the DailySun facebook posts refer to a notice being on the facebook page but again, it is no longer there
- Still nothing about it on the Sumter County Dept of Health page
If this is legitimate it is a **** poor way to roll it out.

Folks,
I am in no way stating the site is either legitimate or not, but thought I would post this information for folks who may have used the sumterfl.safestart.net site and are now worried about a scam. The information I found seems to corroborate the person who stated SafeStart.net is related to GMR (Global Medical Response), the folks who own AMR ambulances.
I do have over thirty years of IT experience, for what that is worth. I first checked it with databases of known scams and suspicious sites. The site did not appear on any of those.
I then went to the site and chose Step 1 - I need to register for a covid vaccine. The site then took me to a page to authenticate, with the options being text, email, or call. I chose email as that would provide me with more info based on where the email came from.
The email did, in fact, come from GMR.net, which leads me to believe the site is legitimate. Again, I am in no way stating this site is legitimate, or not, I am simply stating to those who did sign up for vaccines via this site that you probably have nothing to worry about.

Apparently people are having success entering 000-00-0000 as their social security number and indicating they have no insurance. This certainly seems like the best alternative. This seems to be legit and the company running it very legit. However, one data breach and someone has all of your contact information, your social and your medicare info.....I don't care how legit they are, I'm not putting that information out there with anyone except my doctor's office.

I don't trust anything about this botched effort now. I was tempted to do very unfriendly things to them. I have learned from the Sumter Sheriff that this is a good offer -- just very poorly rolled out and presented to us. It is worth the effort to register (just use 000-00-0000 for SSN and don't give insurance numbers yet). Don't know when the appointment will be offered yet - but there are up to 94,000 shots over the next 90 days supposedly; 4,000 this week and up to 90,000 over the next 90 days.

I was able to get an appointment for my wife and me tomorrow. Concerned with all the negative posts here I took my confirmation letter to the Sumter Co Health Dept to see if this was indeed legitimate. She assured me it was. She said the vaccine clinic is not being run by the Sumter county. She was not happy with the Daily Sun for posting incorrect information. She also said it will be held at different locations on different days. I went to the address given on the confirmation letter. It is a big empty field behind Fresh Market. They are putting up large white tents as we speak. I talked to a man at the entrance and asked him if this is where the vaccine clinic will be held tomorrow and he said yes.

We both accessed this site on The Daily Sun, online, at about nine last night and followed directions, than began to worry because of the request for insurance information and social security. Thank Goodness for some of the right information trickling in from the local site on Facebook, (along with some flat out fibs that the sheriff's office said it was a scam)
It is legit. Probably engineered somehow by the county powers, be it the Morses or the Commissioners or a combination of both....I will not look a gift horse in the mouth.
My husband has received confirmation complete with a bar code for this Wednesday. He must bring valid U.S. I.D. and the paper confirmation. It is in the blank field behind Red Lobster off 466. He also received confirmation for second shot also on Wednesday in early February.
Hope to get my confirmation soon too. I am so happy this is happening.

You can register in any county to get on their notification list. May take a week or two to get that notification but then you can select a time slot for a vaccine when you are notified. Works much better than the Sumter County system, if you can call it that. Amazing to me that with our significant elderly population we are struggling so much to get the vaccine. My wife and I got our first shot yesterday in another county and it went very smoothly. I suggest you shop neighboring counties and pick one you think will work for you. Good luck.

Absolutely legit - You can put in all 0's for the SS# - I have my 1st shot appt on 1-14 with the 2nd on 2-11. They are setting up off 466 in front of the Home Goods store. From what I hear the first 4000 have signed up so it's full for now but expecting 90,000 more vaccines total. Yes the site had to be confirmed legit because of the SS thing but it was. It is in collaboration with the county not the health dept. Easy to sign up, you get a confirmation email time/date stamped and wait for another email for a vaccine date and you are able to select a time also in 1/2 hour increments. The website is.....sumterfl.saferestart.net. Good luck to all!

Why? Its free. You should just be showing a valid picture ID
I'll bet it is free to the person receiving the shot but the company is allowed to recover its costs through insurances.
The vaccine *might* be provided free to the company but they still need to pay their staff who make reservations, pay for the tents, pay for the traffic control, pay for whoever is administering the shots, etc.

This site says it's a private worldwide health provider. I would never give out the information they are requesting, ss number, full name, birthdate, medicare number, etc. Opens yourself up to fraud.
The Villages News should have checked before posting. The US govt does not require any of this info for a vaccine. Beware.. I already signed up for this. Any way to get off their list?

Stop all the misinformation. This site is legit although really suspicious looking. Yesterday we logged in and made an appointment. Today at 7 AM set up two computers and entered the codes we received from email last night.
Have two appointments (me and partner) for the same 1/2 hour time frame at 3705 Woodbridge Drive, The Villages, FL 32162.
I did enter the SSN under duress and NO insurance (we are on Medicare but that shouldn’t even be a concern because the government is paying. Apparently, even though it says you can’t enter all zeros, some have said you can. So do it.
On the reply email confirming the appointment, we each received a date next week and a date in February.
Let me also tell you that I was driving myself crazy thinking I might have been had and went to all the credit companies, Experian, Transunion, and Equifax, and made sure my credit was frozen. Everyone should do this now, so someone can’t open something significant in your names. We did us both.
IF EVERYONE would wear a mask, this crap would be gone in two months. Don’t wear a mask and you and anyone around you will or may not deserves what you get.

The Fruitland Park police and the Sumter County sheriff's office were both called last evening and they said it was a scam. The fact that the Sumter County health dept provided no info on this site is odd in itself.
I went to that site through the sheriff's department website (sumtercountysheriff.org). How can they send you there and also say it is a scam?

Saw cars lined up today for vaccine at the field at Buffalo Ridge. They said they had all signups for all the doses available. Did they sign up on the site that everyone thinks is a scam. It looks like Sumter has contracted with them for vaccinations for the Villages - 90,000 in 90 days!!!! If this is where we go, the site is what they say we have to use.
Any suggestions and comments on what to do!!

Very well organized, staffed, and operated by the GMR (Global Medical Solutions) contractor which is also the parent company for our local ambulance company. There should be a DeSantis press conference today (1/12) on Channel 6; I saw the news crew there when I was in line. My guess is the contract for the event was negotiated by the state and local county government with support and cooperation of the Developer and districtgov (Community Watch assisting with traffic control along with law enforcement). GMR rep told me the only communications were supposed to go through the Daily Sun.

Turn your scanner on and scan your insurance card. Then keep your insurance card out and go to this website and click on step 1, it will ask how do you want to receive your authentication, via text or email. I chose email and received a code right away.
Enter the code and follow directions, took just a couple of minutes. When I was finished I got a follow up email telling me I'm on the waiting and will be notified by email when appointment is available. I did this twice, once for my wife and once for me. Very simple.

I registered for my wife and I. I just put in 00-000-0000 for SS# and no insurance.
Site said we will be notified for our vaccination.
:pray::pray:
Good for your wife! Al they’re trying to do is, it makes it easier for the govt. to keep tabs on you. Just like cell phones, if they want to find you they can buy tracking your phone. Also the Covid shots are suppose to be FREE so S.S. # are just another way to know where you are & go. Hope she gets her shot, & again good for her for staying some what private!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought I read somewhere that you would be contacted for a reservation by the order you registered? If I am correct, that's not how it's working. I registered for my wife and I yesterday at 1PM, and then booked one for a friend who couldn't do it at 4PM. I also walked his wife through the process at 2PM.He got his appointment confirmed this morning, his wife got her's an hour later, and we're still waiting for ours. Doesn't seem that it's being done in order

Fill in ss# with 000 and don't fill in insurance info but fill in everything else. It is legit. Go on Sumter County sheriff's website and read it and the link is right there to click on . People that called yesterday have appointments tonight and you are given an appointment for your second shot too. My neighbor signed up late last night and her appt. is 5:30 today. I was still investigating to see if it was legit and didn't sign up until 10 this morning and don't have an appt yet.

Thank you, Grace, I realize that. However, it still doesn't explain why someone who registers after another gets a reservation ahead of that person. If it's not suppose to be done in order, so be it. If I don't get a reservation, that's OK, but how do I know if I'll ever get one if the procedures I thought were being followed aren't? As I asked previously, am I incorrect about the procedure?

I checked this website out by doing an internet search for Florida State authorized covid-19 vaccines and this website did come up as a legitimate website. I questioned the fact that they wanted my social security number and insurance card info but today I saw that people put down no insurance and put all zeros for their social security number and it does go through. When you try to register you may need to use your computer tools to scroll way over to the right side of your screen so you can find where to enter your verification code and I had trouble finding the next buttons as they barely showed on my computer screen. This topic has been discussed on next door and many people have actually received the shots through them so it appears to be legitimate.

I am so thankful that we are having a major vaccination event here in The Villages. I am also thankful that my wife and I are on the list and waiting to be notified about an appointment time. I signed us up around 10:30 am on Monday.
However, it seems as thought the event is not working on a level playing field. If it is true that the only communications were supposed to go through the Daily Sun, it is not right that residents who are in The VIllages Health Care System were notified by e-mail on Sunday night. Those of us who are not in the Villages Health Care System did not have the information until Monday morning when the Daily Sun was delivered. That meant priority of appointments went to Villages Health System patients.
Also some have reported that individuals they know, who registered after they did, have received appointments while the first individuals are still waiting for their appointment notification. If true, that is not right either.
Don't blast me for my concerns. I am so thankful that somewhere around 90,000 doses are being made available for those of us in Sumter County. I will be so much more thankful when my wife and I are assigned appointments. We are patient but believe a level playing field is only fair.

I logged into this site, but had trouble registering. Got a live help person from GMR. She recommended to say no to the request for insurance info. She said this info can be collected later. Also, she said to put all 1's in the social security number (do not use your real SS#). I followed these instructions and the registration worked! I received an email which verified the registration and said that I would be notified later with a code to be used to schedule the shot (Step 2 on the website). Now the waiting begins....

I agree it's not a level playing field. I'm not in Villages Health either and saw this thread Sunday night. As far as getting info from Daily Sun goes - they gave the wrong website address in the paper Monday morning. Today's paper has the correct website but it doesn't state that it was incorrect previously. I did not feel comfortable giving SS or Insurance number no one asked for this information when I was tested for COVID and shouldn't now. Hope you get your appointment soon.
