View Full Version : Thoughts on the violence and remaining safe for the next 7 days

If I were the authorities I would put everyone that flew into and out of Washington DC up to a week before and after the terrorist event onto a no fly list just for the next 7 days (the ones who invaded the capital should be permanently banned). I would also do background checks and schedule FBI interviews over the next few weeks for EVERY one of those passengers - even if they had no involvement they may have seen something that could help with the investigation.

I hope law and order catches up with every one of them and that the message is understood that violence can never be tolerated. Our way of life depends upon it. The radicals who have infiltrated ALL the various protest groups need to be weeded out so we can return to some sense of civility.

Meanwhile, I would not travel for the next week and confine my activities to golf, tennis, shopping (with a mask) .. avoiding any public places where large groups of people congregate or where there are landmarks. I trust and believe that the authorities will get it right this time and those terrorist groups will stay home.

Thinking what you suggest is way overkill.

They should have pictures of these people and so far seem to be making progress in identifying and arresting them.

You seem to be advocating a police state and not in favor of that for sure.

Should have locked up the rioters, looters and violent thugs who destroyed the downtowns in many cities all summer long. Except for people like that I am not worried. Just glad I no longer live in any of those cities anymore as I lived in the DC-Baltimore area seven years total where I was in the MD Army national Guard and called up for the riot in the late sixties. I then lived in Rochester, NY thirty months.

gee, perhaps I'm a bit overcautious too. I plan to have us huddled into a corner in our house, away from doors and windows, and only going to the kitchen or bathroom when necessary. Hopefully we'll be safe the next few weeks.... :pray:

Why in the world are the thugs given the liberty to take over St. Louis, Minneapolis, Portland, Seattle, and many more cities, and now the capital building? No matter what group of criminals they are, they should be stopped!

Glad I have a concealed carry permit. My life will continue as usual unless I am confronted by a crazy from either side of the political spectrum. If that should happen, it may result in a test of the stand your ground laws.

The riots and destruction that went on during the summer were awful and I hope those involved are caught and punished.

That said, the riot and destruction that happened at our Nations Capitol is much worse and I hope those involved get punished severely.

The OP is speaking of planned insurrection of the United States Government. Call it a coup, sedition...both are correct. That calls for maximum effort since you are chasing people who wish to overthrow our government.....ala many countries in South America or Africa.

The divergence to protests gone amok, resulting in destruction of property is an entirely different thing. Many arrests were possible on scene. Most not protestors, but agitators. That action is deplorable, at best, and in every case possible followed up by local authorities to determine, not only involvement, but intent.

The OP may be concerned about those involved with the events at the Capitol but they specifically mentioned "everyone that flew into and out of Washington DC up to a week before and after the terrorist event ." That includes a huge number of people that were not even in DC on the 6th. "Maximum effort," yes, but if we intentionally ignore the Constitution under the guise of defending it then we are no better than those we claim to be defending it from.

Are you aware of the monetary cost for the damage caused by these "protests gone amok"? Estimates are over 1 Billion dollars.


I'm looking for law and order - questioning potential criminals and witnesses is SOP. Many criminals who participated flew into the capital with their weapons checked in to their luggage. The FBI should interview everyone one of them.

There were bombs (that fortunately did not go off), people with zip ties, and well organized groups who targeted our government and wanted to murder members of our goverment. They all need to spend a good deal of time in jail - some maybe for the rest of their lives. These are not a collection of morons ... actually, they are morons but they are more than that. They are traitors, not to be confused with the rioters that we saw with the other protest groups of 2020.

My message is to play it safe for the next week. After the 20th it should be much safer.

The rioters in these other groups were attacking and damaging federal buildings, state government buildings and city government buildings and occupied a police precinct building. They also targeted, if memory serves me correctly, the home of the mayor of St. Louis but she had fled earlier and went to a safe area. These actions are at least sedition if not treason.
What if a family with small children was on one of those planes, traveling to visit the grandparents, carrying "terrorists" to DC? You advocate dragging them in for interrogation just because they were on the same plane? I would bet a substantial amount of money that if you were brought in for questioning you would be screaming about your rights being violated. That is what the totalitarian communist government does in China. Chinese citizens are encouraged to report on their neighbors that may question the actions of the government. If they think you may be a subversive they haul you in and you are questioned quite severely. Should they decide to be safe than sorry they ship you off to a re-education camp. That is what you are advocating. The end justifies the means. But that can't happen here can it? However that is what you are advocating and find nothing wrong with it.

FAR, FAR, FAR more arrests made in D.C. This past summer.

The people tried the seditionists acts are REAL threats, not just to communities but our entire country.

I am struck by the complete lack of understanding.

The Capitol attack, in my opinion is second only to the 9/11 attacks, but actually much worse as these were Americans attacking their own government, killing police with great intent and brutality.

I do not believe the DC event was truly a riot. Nothing burned down. No destruction. No intentional killing or violence against the worthless politicians. Mostly just many unhappy citizens expressing their anger and frustration.

I really, really, hope you are correct, but I'll have to see it for a period of time after the 20th - before I believe it. I condemn ALL violence, regardless of the supposed "justification." However, to equate that which happened this summer (especially when it's been proved that there was some infiltration solely for that purpose) of those who were protesting unequal justice, with those who attacked the very foundation of our fragile democracy last week - is an obviously poor attempt at a false equivalency (and I'm NOT saying that's what you've done in your post, because obviously you didn't).

I guess you didn't watch the live streaming from cell phones and cameras of people who were actually there. Some of the offices were desecrated. The windows were smashed. Five people died. One person "inside" helped to make sure the terrorists knew exactly where to find one of their targets by tweeting that person's movements.

These videos weren't just reporters. So don't bother with the "fake news" nonsense, if that's where you think to go next. They were people who were doing the attacking, bragging about it on their own cell phones and streaming live on various social media.

As for the OP - we need to remember that there is very little that happens anywhere in Washington DC that doesn't have a camera aimed at it. There are cameras everywhere - not just in government buildings, but in the local 7-11 (or facsimile thereof), the library, the parking lots, hotels. Every computer is monitored - including the one in your personally owned luxury townhouse in Georgetown.

You think Santa is the only one who sees you when you're sleeping? Try living in DC. They see EVERYTHING. They can ID everyone, and they can track anyone.

Whether they are able to act on everything is another matter entirely - but don't think for a moment that they don't know who did what and for what reason. They know.

You are exactly correct. At least we can be thankful for the low IQ terrorists who videotaped themselves and stopped to take selfies, as they were committing very serious federal crimes. I am also sure that it will be eventually proved that a number of the cops whose job was protecting our lawmakers, plus maybe even some of their supervisors - were part of it.

Wow...the empathy for an inspired attack on your own country. The brutal killing of police, the invasion of the people's congress halls.

You find it ok, but lash out at athletes "taking an knee", you are ok with an attack on your own nations capitol, yet want anyone carrying a picket sign to...well, whatever.

There have always been riots and violence (Boston tea party, Vietnam ) and the country survived. No big deal what happened in DC and maybe did some good that politicians see they arent insulated from reality.
