I signed up and got (step 1) registration approved 12:57pm on 11 Jan; I had entered 00-000-0000 and no insurance to the registration process. I got a text from GMR at 6:36pm on 12 Jan instructing me to go to the step 1/step 2 web site, select step 2 and enter the code given in the text message. After answering a few general health questions, I received the okay and received an email was then received with my two appointment dates, times, and the location. My wife who successfully registered only 6 minutes after I completed mine has yet to receive a text/email note to complete step 2. That seems to be a rather common thing. It's almost like random selection as some have suggested. We will all get selected eventually but the need for patience is certainly difficult to absorb. BTW: giving the Medicare number (or insurance number/group number) at the time of the immunization will not be an issue - that will be perfectly okay.

I registered my wife and myself on 1/10. Got an email (1/12) with codes for both of us.
Went through step 2 with the code for us and answered all the questions for both of us.
Got an email with date(1/23) and time for my wife buttttt, nothing for me. And my wife's second shot is 2/20.
Tried entering my code in again and it said invalid code.
So, guess I just have to wait and see if I get it.

This is certainly a much better site than the one the county was using before. I went through two of those 8 am attempts to request a vaccination and twice was turned down in 16 minutes. This one made it easy to apply, and they will let me know when my time comes (so to speak).
What I am wondering, of course, is why something like this wasn’t developed and in place nationwide ready for use whenever a vaccine was ready. If it can be done now, it could have been done six months ago and sent out to every state and county, ready to turn on. How hard was it to anticipate that this would be necessary?

Yes - very simple to use. Enter information initially to register - they alert you that you'll receive an email to choose vaccine dates.
We completed step #1. About 3-4 days later, rcvd email with verification #. Back to the site, enter # and choose date - for 1st shot, then they assign time/date for second a month later.

The site is legitimate. We had the same concerns and even contacted the sheriff’s office, the county, and Global. The we filled out forms and searched id theft coverages ..just in case. Got email. Shots at 1:30 Yesterday. Location is near Fresh Market and extremely well run. Have auto and golf cart lanes, traffic assistance, tablet computers, and very good medical staff. We arrived, stayed in our car, rolled down the window, answered a few questions, relaxed the arm, poke, and then drove to the observation lot. In and out in less than an hour. We have a reservation for the second shot in 4 weeks.
This could have been announced a better way, but let’s give Sumter County and others credit for doing an amazing job. I believe DeSantis opened the site the morning of our shot.
The address is picky. It must be exact. Don’t forget https://

I've tried twice now to "register," and within minutes each time received a verification code (5 digits) which apparently isn't the same as a personal vaccine code (6 digits--letters/numbers combined) which you need to complete the registration process. It's been 48 hours since I received the first verification code and nothing more. I have a friend who breezed through the process with no problems and has both her first and second vaccine appts scheduled. Go figure!! VERY frustrating. Many people are hailing this method and website as the latest and greatest, but so far no deal for me.

Yes, made an appointment on Monday, received appointment dates for both vaccines the very next day. Did not put in Social Security number. I did put in insurance information. Not Medicare number of course.
I have now heard from a friend who made the appointment yesterday, Tuesday, and their appointment is not until the 24th. Sounds like the distance between registering and actually getting your appointment is getting longer with people getting on the bandwagon.

The 5 digit code is just to register and go onto the waiting list. You may need to wait 3 or 4 days or longer to receive the 6 digit code.

Even after receiving both vaccines, the CDC still recommends that you wear a mask and social distance. We have to do this until we get herd immunity which is now at least 70% if not more. It is not over yet when you get the vaccines yet.

For those having issues with signing up, find your computer savvy friend to help out.
I've helped several neighbors in our Marsh Bend neighborhood get registered. Many have received codes for vaccine appts.
Several factors can impede your registration: some use smartphones, some use tablets, some use computers. Some may have security issues preventing access. Some may have devices that need app or browser updates.
Yesterday when I helped a neighbor using their laptop, the webpage was wider than the screen, so had to scroll far to the right to enter the code; and the "next" button was cropped so it was hard to click on it.
Be careful when typing info, double check your work. Remember, haste makes waste. Also "0" is not the same as "O". "1" is not the same as "l" or "I" <-- first is a lower case "L", second is a capital "i" . People may have different fonts as their default font. The codes sent out are all capital letters, no numbers.
As others have noted, the Safe Restart (https://sumterfl.saferestart.net) website is legit. Registration will be accepted if you state you have no insurance, and you enter 111-11-1111 or 000-00-0000 for your SSN.
If wanting a text, type your cell phone number carefully. If email, type your email address carefully.
Always check your work.
Good luck, and help a friend who may not be computer savvy.

I did not have a choice of my first or second vaccine date. I did have a choice of what timeslot I wanted for the first vaccine date. When the final confirmation email was sent it automatically had the second vaccine date and time slot on it. Don’t even know how you would attempt to change anything there.

Got the first dose yesterday morning. It took about twenty minutes from start to finish and that includes the mandatory 15 minute observation period after the shot to make sure you don't have an allergic reaction to the the shot itself. Very well organized with lots of news media present. Other than slight soreness around injection site no other symptoms as of yet. Very good experience, we just need to scale this up so that everyone that wants a vaccination can get one as soon as possible.

The site was very well run only look less than 40 minutes, including the 15 minute observation wait time.

We went to our appointed time and found this to be the most efficient and expedient process possible. Hang in there... we must have been one of the first responders to the website. I must have tried 100 times over the past 3 days. I am able to request and receive a code, but the site does not provide a box for me to enter the code and get on the waiting list or get an actual appointment. I am happy for those who have succeeded in breaking through the site's "firewall" and received an appointment, but I am becoming very frustrated. I am at high risk because of age and medical conditions, so I really want to get the vaccine. Has anyone else had these problems and become frustrated and stresses? What times of day have those who have succeeded been successful? Any idea what I might be doing wrong. And yes, I have tried both text and email without success. Sumter County Health Department have been unable to help.

You do a disservice to everyone involved by not entering your social security and insurance information. The SSN is used to track the vaccine administration (brand, dates of injections, etc) and the insurance info is used to pay for it. Otherwise the county absorbs the cost and the information will not be provided to your insurance company - another way to track the vaccination. I work with FEMA and it eliminates a ton of work for the staff if you provide the information. You will not get an earlier date by eliminating it. They are scheduling it by age priority.

My sister applied a few hours earlier than me on Jan. 11th and was notified to make appointments. She has appointments for the first and second dose.
:pray::pray:
Why don't you just go with your wife and see if they will vaccinate you at the same time as her? Show them a copy of your email that you already completed step 2 in the registration process. They may vaccinate you at the same time as your wife. All they can say is "no" but I certainly would give it a try.

I hear ya! I have already said that the vaccination process should have been in the works back in March of 2019. "They" had to know there would be a massive vaccination effort for all Americans. Why not be prepared?

I agree. I can't think of any justifiable reason why they are not making appointments on a first come first served basis. The Governor established a priority system for the state, and I could understand them rejecting people who don't qualify under the Governor's process. But, the county should not be using any other priority system. It is very suspicious.

Thank you. I think that's odd. The "Daily Sun" said today to bypass the SS# and the info would be collected on site. I am uncomfortable with denying them the opportunity to collect from Medicare for administering the vaccine if they are entitled to it, but I was more uncomfortable with filling in the info so I didn't. "As additional appointments become available, emails will be sent to people on the waiting list in the order these registrations were received. This process will continue for the foreseeable future, so please be patient if you are not contacted immediately. You will be notified when it is your turn."
The underscored sentence turns out to not be true for some.....hence begging the questions:
Are they not on the list if others with later registration dates are being given scheduled dates ahead of them?
If not scheduled in the order received, what does that mean/imply?
While remaining patient it is concerning when the steps outlined as the process do not go forward as notified.
Patience (and blind faith).

We registered on Wed morning and still(Friday afternoon) haven't received a code for an appointment date. We originally filled the form out with social and insurance info and then again later without that info to see if there would be any difference. Both times, received confirmation notices that our info was received and verified. Still waiting for a code for the appointment. I don't care about my getting it, as I will eventually via the VA. But, my spouse needs to get it due to her medical condition. Oh well, I guess it will get around to us eventually. We just have to have patience. Lots here registered on Monday and have not received appts yet.

My husband and I signed up on the 11th and got a confirmation that our request for an appointment has been received. We have not received an appointment date. Yet I check every day and I see that some people get an appointment right away or within a day or two. There seems to be no rhyme or reason to this whole procedure.

GMR does have a "contact" page. It operates just like their confirmation page.....acknowledges receipt and professes the message has been forwarded to the appropriate area for handling and will respond shortly.
Sent contact information twice in a 10 day period....no response.
There is no excuse for lack of response to questions about why they are not performing as stated in their confirming correspondence.
Very disappointing.
If I get no response next week I will reluctantly begin to look at availability outside Sumter County.

According to someone who talked to the County, there was a computer error that caused some people who registered on Tuesday to get appointments before people who registered on Monday. That could explain why it has not been a first come first served system.

I am sick to death of trying to figure out who’s in charge when it comes to the COVID vaccine. Does ANYONE know? We’ve signed up on line and check our emails first thing every morning, but all we get is the same old “wait your turn” response. Yet every day we see that other people are getting appointments and receiving bar codes, in order to proceed. Someone has got to know the answer to who, what, when, where and how we can get our vaccine.

The best answer to your question in Florida is the Governor. The state has sent vaccines to the individual counties to vaccinate people. The counties have their own websites where people can sign up to get an appointment. You don't need to be a county resident to use any website. There are also several locations where you can just show up and get the vaccine on a first come first served basis. In addition, the state has contracted with Publix and sent vaccines to some of the Publix stores. You can go to the Publix website and sign up for an appointment. The problem is that there are a lot of people who want the vaccine, but not enough vaccine to go around.

Web site was redone Tuesday and all that signed up Monday were left in limbo as it was not integrated into new website. Definitely was an IT problem. Site where shots are given is well organized, website is not.

You should have received a message confirming that you are registered. If so, you should just wait because you are already registered. Here is the message you should get after completing Step 1.
"Thank you for completing the screening and request for a COVID-19 vaccination. Your submission has been received and is approved. The date and time of your submission has been recorded, and you will be contacted as additional appointment times are released. Please submit the form only once."

You don't use Step 2 until they send you a 6 digit code to schedule an appointment. Step 1 is to register. You use the 5 digit code in Step 1 to register. Then, they send you a message confirming your registration. If you already have the confirmation message, you are registered and you just need to wait for them to send you the 6 digit code, but that may take several days or longer.

I also signed up on the 11th and hadn't received the appointment email. Finally on the 14th I sent an email to the contact on their website. Within hours I received the code for an appointment. Could be a coincidence, but I think not. I'm hearing that the people who signed up on Monday, the 11th, got caught up in a computer glitch.

The SafeRestart website is the site you need to use. Click on Step 2 and enter the code. My code was a combination of six numbers and letters and I was given this code via a text message.

My memory may be faulty on this but have you done Step 1 where you fill out form with person's name, address, D.O.B., insurance, etc.?
You can put in zeroes for social security number and check "no" for insurance if you wish. After you submit that you should receive a code with six digits, a combo of numbers and letters inviting you to schedule the appt. You need that code to schedule the appt. by clicking on Step 2. Keep that code, either print it out or keep it on your phone, that is your ticket to be admitted at the site.

Thank you! I am actually trying to help my dad who lives in The Villages. He tells me that a lady at the library registered him with GMR. I will have to assume that she did this step.
One more question if you don't mind....my dad tells me that shortly after the lady registered him he received an email from GMR but he accidentally deleted it. I am hoping that it was just a confirmation of registration and not an actual appt. Do you (or anyone reading this) remember if the first email from GMR was just a registration confirmation? I've tried to help him navigate to his deleted mail with no luck. I am across the country, unfortunately. Thank you in advance!

The only way for an appointment to be made is for the person to pick a date and time. GMR doesn't just designate and day and time for the first appointment. The second shot appointment is different however. That appointment is made for 28 days after the first shot unless that day falls on one of the site's CLOSED days. From what I understand, the GMR site is closed Sunday and Monday.

I am thankful that I am not running this. People, us, are listing on multiple sites. The Physer vaccine needs to be injected quickly or it is wasted. Ran out of vaccine, none of us would be pleased yet, like say an airline, they likely over book based on experience of how many will book and not show up. After 5 or 6 tries we finally got an appointment.
We, typical of my wife got there too early. Not counting waiting for our proper time we were out in 45 minutes. I was told they are doing 6,000 shots a day. Perhaps, we lucked out but it could not have been better. Fourteen is my lucky number. We lost 6 times. When we won we got station number 14.

With such low numbers of dose availability I suspect the wait will be longer than we think!!
So now we wait.....
This is exactly it!!!! So many seem to think that somehow 2 million people are going to get appointments for 500,000 doses at the same time. They can only they can only make appointments and give out what they have.
Some will be lucky and get appointments right away and for others it may be a month or so before they get their first shot.
It's all basically first come first served. With all of the complaining, I haven't heard any suggestions on how it might be handled better.

For some reason, my phone is silencing/blocking these calls so I haven't been able to speak to anyone to let them know I have already received both shots from GMR. “At this time you are now approved for scheduling your vaccine, please return to Safe Restart (https://sumterfl.saferestart.net/) and select “Step 2: I have a Code for COVID-19 Vaccination”.”
It took my brother some time to get through the appointment process but I completed both of ours in about 10 minutes. We will take our first shot this coming Tuesday at Lake Sumter College in Sumterville.
Our second shot is scheduled automatically for one month from the first. We are now relieved to have these dates for shots know to us. Hope everyone else can also obtain their appointments for shots as soon as possible.

I've seen a couple of posts requesting how GMR could handle this better. Let me count the ways.
1. A user friendly web site would be welcomed.
2. Perhaps a weekly or twice weekly email blast out to everyone as to status and availability.
3. Some method to determine where you may be listed within their system.
4. Perhaps some queued number.
5. Some easy way to cancel out for others to move up in the list.
6. Some way to communicate clearly with someone. e.g. I'm waiting for notification, however I can't get the vaccine right now due surgery. So, if my lucky number comes up can I delay and not lose some priority standing?
7. Some method of feeding back and making suggestions. (I might have covered that already...)
Oh well.

I didn't fill out any paper work for GMR. They asked to see a driver's license so they can fill out your vaccination card with your name and city you live in. They also enter the name of the vaccine manufacturer and the lot# of the vaccine on the card. They did not ask for Medicare number or SS #.
