Some of us are just expecting what was promised and promoted during the photo ops!!!

I emailed Governor DeSantis just now about NON -US citizens being vaccinated here in Florida. I also questioned what will the priority be once Florida receives a supply of vaccine. Will those who have appointments for their second shot be a priority over those who have appointments for their first shot?

I doubt I will get an answer.

We have paid Federal income tax so doesn't that count towards paying for this vaccine? NON-US Citizens have not paid any taxes here in the US. Why in the world should they be receiving our vaccine?

So this morning (too cold to play golf@7:24) went to breakfast. A older couple (maybe in late 80s) with adult kids were speaking of all the foreigners getting on busses to come and GET our vaccine at MCO yesterday.

When the older couple got up, the younger males, starting laughing, says don’t bother correcting them, not going to listen. The kids said The busses were Magical Expresses, loading going to Disney.

But don’t ever correct parents, just easier to let them think what they want. We laughed so hard, said we so understand not correcting a parent who knows better than you.

Best rumor today

What does one consider “foreigners”? Someone from outside the US? Or are folks coming from Georgia to Florida to receive their shots considered foreigners? How about people from Puerto Rico that are now in Florida? Are they foreigners? Maybe those from Orange County are foreigners as well.

Saferestart does not appear to be a "fly by night" outfit to me. The process was very well organized and the vaccination site was very impressive, including having three ambulances on site in the event of people having reactions to the vaccine. I do not fault Saferestart for the lack of vaccines. There is a national shortage of vaccine so we all wait now.

Yes but this would encourage more foreign travel thus more opportunities to spread the disease. More likelihood of infecting our citizens. Much better to ship it to their country.

They should have to wait just like we do and not jump ahead in line.

Don’t get too excited. These foreigners can’t get vaccinated unless they apply and get a time and show up. I’m a citizen, and I’ve applied, but I haven’t yet received a time, and it seems that there isn’t vaccine available. If they fly in from Canada to get vaccinated and can afford it, so what? Many of these people (and it’s a very tiny number, anyway) come down and stay for a month or more waiting for their vaccinations. Meanwhile, they spend a LOT of money in Florida. That money benefits YOU! We need a lot more visitors here with a lot of money to spend on housing, restaurants, shopping, and entertainment. I know people here in Florida who have registered in their home states for the vaccine, and if they get the opportunity, they will fly or drive home to get it. This cuts both ways.

Again with the same nonsense? Responding to your own posts? Really? Vaccines are being manufactured and distributed by the Federal Government and then farmed out to communities by the state. They have run out of the vaccines and are waiting for more. There was most likely a communications misunderstanding. There is nothing to resolve. They don't have vaccines.

Florida is getting high marks because it has distributed and used the vaccines it got. Would you feel better about being in New York or California where they are way behind on actually getting people vaccinated? 6.8% of the people in Sumter County have been vaccinated. That is way ahead of many other parts of the country and state.

It's no misunderstanding and it's not not hatred to object to the fact that people who are not US citizens are legally getting the Covid immunization. US citizens have a right to object to our leaders allowing this. Lots of countries are restricting people from coming into their countries and bringing Covid with them but not the US---we allow it. We seem to allow anything. Why? We shouldn't be asking people to wear masks and to socially distance---we should be mandating it.

Shots for illegals? Not at all hard to get SCREAMING. Yet, do you want a person infected with covid serving you food, harvesting your food, mixing with you at the rec center.

No, I don't want them here in the first place. Why should they jump the immigration line over those that have been waiting years to come legally. And now apparently they can jump the vaccine line as well. Enough is enough, send them all back to where they came from, we cannot solve all the world's problems and support all the world's population. The US has been more than generous with it's legal immigration policies, those who cross illegally are FELONS, and should be dealt with as such

For all those who hated “America First” it’s not sounding so bad right now.

I'm still not liking it and disagree.

There are a LOT of Floridians here who are NOT US citizens. They come from Canada, or the UK, South America, Cuba, Italy, India, Japan, etc. etc. etc. They RESIDE here part of the year, but maintain the citizenship of whatever country they come from, and return "home" for the other part of the year.

If the vaccine becomes available when they are eligible to receive it, they need to get it then, no matter where they are when that happens. Anyone who RESIDES in Florida when they are eligible for an available COVID vaccine, whether they are citizens or not, should be allowed to get one.

This is why Florida is short on the vaccines for their own residents. We should not allow people from other countries or states to come here for their vaccines. Florida is a large state with many senior citizens and we need to develop some kind of system in order to distribute the vaccine to its residents. Perhaps we can go county by county. I live in The Villages, perhaps we can get the vaccine village by village. Of course, those with medical conditions, medical personnel, first responders and our seniors should have priority. Governor DeSantis is working very hard to make sure we get the vaccines, but he cannot control how quickly the vaccine is made.

Florida’s Covid-19 Vaccines Draw Foreigners, Snowbirds - WSJ (https://www.wsj.com/articles/floridas-covid-19-vaccines-draw-foreigners-snowbirds-11610620200)
It was obvious from the very beginning that after the vaccines were produced in limited numbers that vaccine distribution was going to be fraught with corruption, confusion, chaos, and inefficiency - this only encouraged various people to attempt to "game the system". States made up different rules deviating from the CDC. Florida had no solid, unifying message about how the vaccines were to be distributed. Florida threw the responsibility to the counties, which were unprepared. Some tried and failed to come up with a useable registration system. Some tried to do a "first come, first served system", which had frustrated and eager Floridians driving for 50 to 100 miles to some other county to just wind up empty. Overall, it was a "cluster" distribution. It is kind of sad that America, a county known for and having pride in its ability to innovate, has come up so empty of ideas for vaccine distribution.

........Florida can come up with a Lottery system that DISTRIBUTES prizes and money by CHANCE - which seems to work and satisfy everyone. The vaccines are a limited FREE good that have huge DEMAND - so how can you bring equilibrium to that economic supply and demand problem? - you NEED a mathematical, fair system of chance that would come close to pleasing everyone. Math and Science run the Florida Lottery system, why not turn some math professors toward the problem of FAIRNESS of CHANCE in vaccine distribution. Florida has already decided to work on distributing the vaccine to the over 65 age group - just use math and science and not STUPIDITY like "first come, first served".

I think it is wonderful that Florida is a place that is not selfish nor greedy. Giving is the mark of a Godly life free of prejudices. Eventually everyone on earth needs to be vaccinated to defeat this this horrible virus.
That's a lot of empathy, more than I can muster up. Also, Florida may have been motivated by greed. The more snowbirds, out of staters, and "foreigners" that come here - the more money they spend - and more state sales tax is collected. The health of Florida year-round residents be damned!

Guess what folks, life is not fair, and our government is even more unfair. Everyone should be used to it by now, if not, get used to it.
Some subset of situations will always be "unfair". The trick is to NOT passively accept that ALL situations are "unfair".

No, I don't want them here in the first place. .... those who cross illegally are FELONS, and should be dealt with as such

Doctor, perhaps when you type in ALL CAPS at least you might wish to double check your information to see if you are WRONG. I wonder what news sources might have led you to believe that illegal entry was a felony.

Entering the US illegally is a misdemeanor (https://apnews.com/article/2584b7cbfc4948cd9b828df0c1161a57) not a felony. While some segments of our population see undocumented aliens as right up there with rapists, the overwhelming majority are just trying to make their lives better, like my grandfather who came here when anyone with $1 and a sponsor was allowed in. Lots of real Americans didn't want people like my grandfather here, the unwashed uneducated poor non-WASP kind of people. And that generation of immigrants made America Great.

The law is called illegal entry, and it makes unauthorized border crossings a crime. The law specifically bars entry into the U.S. at places other than through ports of entry, like an airport or bridge on the U.S.-Mexican border. A violation of the law, also known as Section 1325, is a misdemeanor with a penalty of six months in prison,

OK, so it's a misdemeanor with up to 6 months in jail, not a felony with 12 months in jail----BFD. It's still a crime. My grandfather came in 1908 and GM in1912, Legally, with a sponsor. They immediately enrolled in citizenship and English class. Grandmother WORKED 12 hours a day, 7 days a week for $8/month. She did not get welfare, nor food stamps, nor medical care, nor did she expect anyone to hand her these things free. There were no "caravans" headed to cross the border illegally----they would have been shot---it's called enforcing a border. No border, no country. And she wasn't a "WASP"

Part 2-----

So it's OK to commit a crime if you are just trying to make your life better???
Stealing from a grocer because you're hungry??
Robbing a bank because you need rent money??
Rioting and looting because you perceived a "social injustice"??
Invading the Capitol because your candidate lost??

Either we are a nation guided by the rule of law or not. You cannot pick and choose which laws should be enforced based on whether or not you sympathize with their cause or plight.

PS: The term "undocumented" was invented by the left to mitigate the fact that they committed a crime and are here ILLEGALLY

Guatemalan officials report that some of the migrants in this weekend’s caravan carried fake COVID-19 test results. Others actually tested positive for the potentially deadly virus.

They used violence to get past soldiers at border. This will be a test for the next President. I hope he doesn't let the citizens down or there will be hundreds of thousands to follow.

Maybe so but it is a miserable way to die. Say good by to your loved ones on an iPad.
The "long haulers" may not die, but can have bad lives for a long, long time. And CV may cause problems that are yet unknown. Not a "walk in the park".

Sadly, hate is a primitive, MINDLESS, and yet powerful emotion. I am glad that I do not have to make the decisions. Any decision, no matter what it is will receive biased objections claimed to be based on fact.

Shots for illegals? Not at all hard to get SCREAMING. Yet, do you want a person infected with covid serving you food, harvesting your food, mixing with you at the rec center.

The solutions will not be easy or inexpensive. Consumed with HATE, we are a mindless mob.
One original problem multiplies and now becomes another problem (vaccinations for undeserving individuals).

Anybody can get the vaccine. All they have to do it fill out form online. No state can ask where the came from due to HIPPI law.

Agreed, for LEGAL residents.

Second shots MUST be given BEFORE anyone gets their first shot. Efficacy percentage depends on the second shot administered within a given time frame. Out of that time frame and the efficacy is unknown.
That is logical and reflects the science behind the vaccines.

Apparently the Canadian govt never got around to ordering more than a handful of doses.
Disagree - not the way I heard about Canadian vaccine ordering.

The Biden plan is to get the first shot to everyone first.
Second shot many months later.
