Due to unforeseen circumstances surrounding the national vaccine supply, we are temporarily suspending the operation of the mass vaccination site in Sumter County. Here’s what you need to know:



If you received an appointment for your second dose, your appointment will remain as scheduled until further notice. If we do not receive the necessary doses, we will reschedule your second vaccination appointment.
All 7,500 scheduled appointments for first doses, including those who received scheduling codes but have not yet scheduled, have been placed on hold until we receive adequate supply of the vaccine.
If you have registered but have not yet received a scheduling code, you will remain waitlisted in the order received. Rest assured, you will not lose your place on our registry.
We will continue to process registrations for vaccines and place individuals on the waitlist to adequately assess demand and report those totals to the Florida Department of Health.


Health Officials and team members are committed to the Sumter County community's needs and are working very closely with the State of Florida Department of Emergency Management and Florida Department of Health. We are prepared to resume vaccinations as soon as we receive notice that vaccine doses are available.

This is really concerning if it's true. When I registered with them for a vaccine, their system didn't ask for my SSN, but did ask for DOB, Medicare #, address, email, phone #, so they do have some info on me. I waited to register until after several sources insisted that this company was legit, including the Sumter Co Sheriff's office. Hopefully, this isn't another scam.

This is no ones fault but the suppliers of the vaccine. My family comes from NH and Maine. They are having the same problems there. Not enough vaccine. Do you really think the States or anyone else right now are happy with the amount they are receiving. I doubt it. So stop blaming people who have no control over the supply they are receiving. Dismantled? You've been reading the reports on that other web site and letting them get to you. When they announced the suspension of vaccinations because of a shortage, they indicated that they were moving everything into storage pods.

No sense hiring security guards to monitor that large space 24/7 when you can easily take it down, store it and then put it back up when ready to go again. After all, I seem to remember this all went up very, very quickly.

Vaccine in California and that they suspended it until they establish the cause and effect? With this in mind and the fact that CMR would not state the reason for suspending the Villages vaccine I feel we may have been lucky in not getting it yet? I really do hate to be a Debbie Downer, but has anyone been able to find out where else Global Medical Response is giving vaccines? On their website, the only one they speak about is the one in Sumter. I don't see any other vaccine centers listed, or any "news" about any other site. How many people did they "vaccinate" here, and can we be sure that these people actually got a real dose of real vaccine? This whole situation from having to give Social Security Numbers to them packing up after a few days seems very sketchy to me. Again, sorry for being an alarmist, and I hope I'm wrong.

Because until the suppliers of the vaccine can give them definite answers, anything they say would be just speculation. If they tell you something and it does not happen then your all over them for being wrong. It’s a no win situation.

Assuming the holdup is the supplier one would think that Pfizer for example has a production schedule and they know the orders they have to fill.

Recheck you're source/comprehension, just one lot was pulled due to 10 adverse reaction at one site. This could be a reformulation problem at the site...

The reactions in California are referring to allergic reactions and to a specific batch of the Moderna vaccine. I'm not concerned. This is the reason there is a minimum of a 15 minute observation period after the vaccination. This is also the reason three ambulances were on site at the 466 vaccination location.

Does anyone know WITH CERTAINTY who signed the agreement with Global Medical Response? I've been told it was no one at the Villages or County level, so that leaves someone at the State of Florida-if, in fact, there was any kind of a formal agreement. It seems there must have been for them to receive an allotment of vaccine.

My experience with GMR was very positive-I'd just like to know who let them run out of vaccine while other Counties keep receiving allotments!!
