I remember mom always had a toilet seat cover with matching rug and tank cover cover.
Why am I now looking at a naked toilet seat and naked toilet cover. Is this progress?
Could this be cabin fever?

We had had them from time to time but just another expense and something to clean. Mom was always home so she cleaned almost everyday. Also the seat cover sometimes does not allow the seat to stay open which make it difficult for us men...

yup that darn old seat cover didn't allow the seat to tilt back far enough and it would come crashing down at the worst possible moment

My guess would be that people realized that it would be very hard to keep those items sanitary.

Off topic ~ a few years ago I was watching one of the design shows on HGTV. The 'designer' had a nautical theme for the bathroom. She wrapped the base of the toilet in sisal rope.:ohdear::ohdear:

Love the idea of urine stained toilet accessories. Maybe they are not used anymore because they are stupid.

I hated those when I was a kid. It was too thick for the seat to stay up. So I had to hold the seat up with one hand.

I think people realized how nasty those things were and stopped using them. Yuk.

No, it’s just gross. If you look at DIY books for bathrooms you won’t find any in the pictures either. After watching HGTV for many years, those covers and toilets rugs are the biggest pet peeves when they go into a home.
