Things are happening so fast! In July we came down to make what we thought would be preliminary plans for our home build (which we intended to start in October) and ended up going ahead and signing everything while we were there - maybe we got a few extra perks for doing it then, maybe not but we did it.

The build started a couple of weeks ago and we eagerly anticipate every picture we are sent on the progress (anyone who wants to add more, our address is 1877 Claverton in Buttonwood! - go over and see the amazing speed they have!) We close October 14th - which is a challenge because we will actually be in Hawaii (a long planned vacation!) at the time - we just will have EVERYTHING in place before then.

We had thought to use the house occasionally till the end of 2011 when Cliff would retire BUT Pfizer is reorganizing and his job is being eliminated (actually, his is the only one!) Too bad, so sad!! :a040::a040:

Soooo... I am giving my notice today so that we will be able to head down there in January. We still have the house up here and will get it ready to put on the market in the spring (we are already starting to de-clutter and I am saying goodby to alot of "things" knowing I will always have the memories to cherish.

We know we will be back and forth for a while but we are, oh, so excited about our decision! :MOJE_whot:

Wish me luck today!:pepper2::2excited:

We both retired early and because of that, less money. We have been here three months now and are very happy with our decision to do it now. We love everything about the Villages.

Congrats and good luck!

Don't worry too much abiout the closing. TV has it down to a fine art. The biggest issue will be your hotel giving you the documents in a prompt manner. You might want to find the nearest Kinko's and have them faxed there, especially if you feel the hotel staff is not too efficient. That way, TOTV can call you when they're being sent and you can just pop over and get them.

BTW -- Be sure and take pix of the things you are getting rid of. Also, be careful that you don't get rid of something truly precious to you. Sometimes we weed out too much. If it's a good memory (like a great vacation), photograph and get rid of it. If it's something that gives you a warm fuzzy every time you touch it (the baby blanket you had as an infant or your child had), keep it.

Cherylncliff,

We, too, did the same. We had not intended to buy or build until the fall but ended up buying a lot in July located in Buttonwood on Dalecroft Trail and the building of the house began shortly after. Our agent sends us pictures and we are just amazed at the speed they are building it.

I also understand what you feel about getting rid of your stuff. We sold our home in PA and moved to our condo in Palm Coast in June. It was hard to say Good-bye to friends and family but I look forward to meeting new friends and "family" in The Villages. We close in two weeks and move the following week.

Hope to meet you and enjoy that wonderful trip in Hawaii.

I am really jealous. Congrats on resigning and taking the step. I have about 2.5 more years, at least, before I can do that. I am already starting to declutter this house in preparation. Have a great move.

End of June was a total hip replacement. July I hosted my family reunion. Last week I handed in my resignation. After a minute of looking at dental work, they realized I was serious. It felt terrible, yet good. Dan tried resigning but they wouldn't let him, so the deal is no call, keep the same salary and benefits and work from our new home in TV!!! The house went on the market, is luckily paid off which is good in this market. My Subaru sold in less than 15 mins on Craigslist last evening. We had "The Moving Sale" a few weeks ago where I watched items from 21 years of marriage, 17 years in the home, things from my childhood go out the door. Now I look around and the house is taking a deep breath, as I am, knowing we will all have a new adventure. Dan and I come down permanently at the end of Sept. We have a rental for 3 months and will begin "Dan and Carol's Excellent Adventure."
I feel we've made friends already from this forum, I've certainly learned a lot. Thank you for letting me have an emotional spill. See you all soon! See you at Chatters.

Soooo excited for you guys! :pepper2::crap2: We did a similar thing. We went down in late July to pick out our stuff, but planned on signing our contract mid Sept. but once we were there we just couldn't wait. We close Oct. 12.

Good luck with giving your notice!:beer3:
