A Frog in TV gave me the 2009 catolog called The Villages Newcomers Guide. I believe it is put out by the Daily Sun. I found it to be informative although outdated. How do I get the updated 2010 version?
PS: I just returned from the Social Security office. I am now considered officially RETIRED. The countdown has begun. Within 7 days, I will be in TV. I paid my dues.

You can pick the latest version at the Daily Sun office in SS. Cost was $5.00 when I picked up a copy.

I will have the paper delivered while I am in Buttonwood the week of Sept 7. I will then put a hold on the paper until we return. Maybe I should contact Daily Sun and ask them to mail to my house in NY?????

The newcomers guide for 2010 comes out at the end of Sept. around the
20th. It will be delivered with the Daily Sun paper to all subscribers at the that time. (QUOTE]

It would be great if The Guide could be published after the snowbirds return. I'd think the distribution would be much broader and therefore advertisers would reach more people.

Does the Village offices have some sort of information guide that they give out as well with helpful things, numbers, who to call for...., where to find....., best places to....., don't forget to..., etc.??? If they don't provide it, other than the guide in the newspaper mentioned here, where would we find out all the "important" information??????? Thanks

I understand the magazine comes Sept 20th or so. "If I am not in TV during late September, how can I get the paper, unless they have my NY address."

When you return to TV, you can get a Newcomer Guide from The Daily Sun office in Spanish Springs.

The 2010-11 Newcomers Guide was in the Daily Sun this week. It has about 250 pages. Always has lots of information and many advertisements.

The Villages phone book is also published by the Daily Sun. When we rented a villa in July, I called the Daily Sun about buying a phone book and was told the new ones are published in November. They are distributed first to residents and businesses. Any leftovers are available to purchase in January. I'd like to buy one next time I'm in TV!

At the bottom of the first page of Talk of the Villages is a link to something called "Nuts and Bolts of the Villages." That, plus the Newcomers Guide, should provide you with all the information you need.

Being distinctly behind the power curve with respect to all these modern high-tech gadgets, I must wonder how you could fit the better than 250 pages of the Newcomer's Guide on your "little bitty phone?" :jester:
BTW, check your edition carefully: Mine arrived with some 30 pages missing. An e-mail ended up with a new copy hand-delivered the same afternoon!
And, don't take everything as gospel. I found at least one somewhat serious map error, plus any number of bad index references.
Still, especially for newbies this is a worth-while book to have!

Ok....called the Daily Sun and they have no electronic version of the guide. You can pickup one at their office in Spanish Springs, but it's paper and costs $5.00.
Of course, the file used to print the book is electronic, but they'd have a tough time controlling the "sale" of that...
