Not a difficult DIY. Can buy at Lowes, Home Depot or Ace Hardware. You Tube instructions and make sure power is turned off. Takes about 5-10 minutes.

I agree with above, or get a local handyman, licensed electrician will run $75 or more just to come to the house. This is a simple repair, as noted above make sure you turn off the circuit breaker. On a side note, the post light is typically fed from one of the GFCI receptacles in the garage if your light is not coming on, check to make sure the GFCI is not tripped. If it is tripped and will not reset, you have a problem probably at the lamp post. I have personally seen 3 houses where the wires were spliced underground without using the correct waterproof housing. The result is a condition that trips the GFCI. A tip off is if the cable leaving the garage is grey, and the cable in the post is another color. 2 of the 3 homeowners called home warranty and had the original installer repair at no cost.
Hope this helps.

Just buy a dusk to dawn light bulb.. LED bulbs from Amazon are 2 for $15 for candelabra type. Only need one in lamp post. They go on at dusk and off in dawn.

No need to replace sensor and the bulbs last a long time.

My lamp post has three bulbs. If I used only one dusk to dawn bulb, only one bulb will go off at dawn. Maybe your lamp post is wired differently?

Have you reset the GFI outlet in the garage. That what I did before replacing the sensor. That was the problem.

If I can do it so can you. Easy job.

Good point. My husband always told me check GFI before you think there is a problem.

Just put one bulb in. Slightly unscrew other bulbs.

OMG, they are implying use only one bulb. We've been using only one LED bulb in the post (not the same one) for 12 years and lights up the front of the house just fine 😉

You don't need an electrician to have that done.
I can and have changed many of them for a lot less than having an electrician come out.

Same thing happened to me, replaced sensor and then realized it was the GFI breaker had tripped and that caused the problem

Some people mentioned checking the GFI. Our light has three bulbs candelabra base.
Some of the confusion is that some people have a single bulb with what I think is called an Edison base. In any case if the light does not light first thing to do is to check the bulb.

Our neighbor, reasonably handy, ran to buy the sensor. Strange all three of his bulbs were
blown.

Re: LED bulbs.
I've replaced most every bulb in my house with LED bulbs. I've learned no to buy brand x bulbs. They are cheap in more than the price.

I have three CREE bulbs in our front light post they are eight years old and still fine.
That is say 365 days 9 hours a day 3285 hours x eight years=26,280. If, I recall some of the LED bulbs claim 20,000 hours

Put a piece of black tape over the photo cell on the post, go to wall-mart and in the electrical supply area, pick up a screw in photo cell that you take the bulb out, put that in and put the bulb back into that, Had me for 4 years and works fine.
