We moving in April and are renting a long term furnished home. We thought that would give us the opportunity to really get the feel for the area and lifestyle. Since the home is furnished that eliminates for us the need of a mover. However the are kitchen items, golf clubs, etc that take a lot of space in the car. Has anyone heard of a place we could ship boxes to and they would store for us until we arrive? We have considered having a friend ship to our new address after we get there, but was just interested in hearing options. Thanks.

Pods will do this, you pack they pick and ship and store until ready then deliver. The small one will probably do and give you room for some additional items just in case.

Almost everyone who moves here takes more stuff than they really need. Us included.
Do you really need all the stuff you will be bringing and than have to get it home again?

Are you keeping your home or selling it? While renting pods or uhaul or others will get your stuff delivered when you want it. The rest of your stuff is it staying home, being stored or being sold? When we came down we packed every inch of my truck and drove down and bought all new furniture as soon as we got here. That was delivered the next day so one night on the floor. We still have our northern house. Good luck but we do see a lot of pods etc in driveways.

We had stuff sent to one of the local storage places. We rented a "locker" for a month (IIRC it was like $50) and when UPS dropped it off they put it in the storage unit till we got down here about 2 weeks later (our move was permanent). Was 4 years ago so I don't remember which one of the many storage places it was but I think it was on 466A. If it's "tons" of stuff then a PODS or similar is better but they do charge to hold once it gets here.
