Once again I am reaching out to my fellow Villagers for help as you always seem to guide me in the right direction.

To begin with neither my wife nor myself have children or family and thru life I have done well with investments and now life is coming to a close and trying to find attorney or firm that will act as my "power of attorney" in the event I am disabled. It is hard to trust a "friend" with so much authority and although I have drawn up a Trust I only want assets to be managed "after" my death but in the event I am incapacitated I would like to find "power of attorney" to pay bills, taxes, payments, etc until my death and then all assets will be managed by Trust as my wife would not be burdened with the headaches.

I had talked to firm that will manage my Trust once I have passed on but they have told me they will not handle "power of attorney" due to liability and the fact that only after my death will they be allowed to "take over" managing of my assets

Reaching out to see if you might know of a firm or attorney that might help me solve this problem. Seems this "power of attorney" has too much authority and would like to find someone that can do this

Thank you again for your advice. As always it is greatly appreciated

I would start with the telephone book, looking under lawyers specializing in elder care, and start making calls you want to avoid having a fiduciary assigned to you or your wife, there have been some horror stories in the news about this. From your request it appears you are looking for someone to pay bills etc., NOT make decisions regarding end of life, so IMHO there is limited liability. You should be able to find a firm willing to do this.
I would start with Pittman Law.

I have been told the same thing as the OP, that most attorneys and banks, etc. will not agree to be your power or attorney because of the liability. Pittman Law prepared my will and that they would not be my power of attorney and didn't know of anyone who would. With that being the case, I would be very suspicious of an attorneey or organization who will do it. A trusted friend or relative is probably the best way to go.

You might be able to find a bookkeeping firm or CPA to handle the bill paying.

We have some very knowledgeable users on this board. The few numbers of responses tells me it is difficult to find a POA under your circumstances. I am interested for myself as well. Let's hope for more replies.

OP, good topic tangential to others such as living wills, revocable trust, POA, etc in summary there is a strong case of an "Estate Planning" forum on TOTV's for these type of questions.
