My wife and I had GMR appointments for January 20, and we know how that worked out.

So who had appointments on that day, or the day before and after, and have you been texted and/or called about a new appointment? And did you get both a text and a phone call?

My hope is they contact us soon.....thanks!!!

I waiting to be contacted to set up an appointment to get my first dose. It's frustrating but all we can do is wait. They can't give the shots if they don't have the vaccine to put in the needle.

Husband and I had GMR appointments for January 24 at the same time of day. He was contacted by email yesterday from GMR to reschedule but I didn't see the email until this morning. So now he is set to receive his first dose tomorrow. It was surprising to me that all time slots for tomorrow were available.

I just received my invitation to reschedule a few minutes ago. However, in the meantime I got the Pfizer vaccine in Leesburg so have no need of the GMR appointment. I'm sure there are many others like me and it shouldn't be long before everyone is contacted.

We relied only on email, so no text or call.

So Carla when or what date did you first sign up for the vaccine. Just curious?

It was Jan 11th, the day after the site opened. However, there was a glitch or some problem that day with their system and we didn't hear back from GMR until the 13th or 14th and didn't get an appt. until the 24th.

I had an original Jan 19 appointment for first dose with GMR. That of course was cancelled. My wife's Appt was two days later. Hers cancelled also. I received an e-mail on 1/30/21 from the Sumter County dept of Health from a name I did not know. Fortunately I opened the e-mail which gave me a code to get an Appt with the Sumter County Dept of Health. I submitted the code at the web link provided. On 2/1/21 I received an Appt for 2/2/21 where I received my first dose by Sumter Co Dept of Health.

Wife had GMR Appt for a day or two after mine. She received an e-mail yesterday from GMR with a code to sign up for her first dose. She signed up and actually got her first dose given today.

We only received an e-mail in each case, no phone call nor text. For the original GMR appts that were cancelled, we had received initial notification via text.

My husband and I had appointments for the 19th and were cancelled. I was contacted Wednesday to set new appt and had my shot yesterday (Thursday). Husband has not been contacted yet. It was a couple days after I was contacted the first time for him to get his call so we're hoping today or tomorrow he will be contacted.

When I visited my doctor in Ocala and asked how vaccinations were going, he related a relative positive story of widespread vaccination sites and a well-organized program. When I related the unavailability of vaccine here in The Villages, he shook his head and said, “You people in Sumter County are getting screwed.”

Why?

I had an appointment on Jan 18, and of course it was canceled. I received a telephone call from the Sumter County Health Dept on Jan 25 and had my first vaccine on January 27.

I have a friend who originally had a Jan 20 appointment, and she was finally contacted and is getting her first vaccine today. I don’t know if it was a call, text or email. Mine was just a call to my cell.

Still trying to get an appt. Really frustrating. Maybe by the end of the year it will be easier to get the vaccine. Wasting so many hours staring at the computer.

No, the people of Sumter County are not being screwed. That's a narrative without facts.

The following data is as of February 3, 2021 using estimated population data from 2019 and vaccination data from

http://ww11.doh.state.fl.us/comm/_partners/covid19_report_archive/vaccine/vaccine_report_latest.pdf

Florida has given enough first dose vaccinations to cover 6.4% of its residents.

Sumter County has given enough first dose vaccinations to cover 14% of its residents.

I hope everyone feels a little better now knowing that we are getting more overall vaccinations than the state as a whole.

Make sure you contact them to cancel, if not that is a “lost” appt that someone else could have. The vaccine will go to someone else but not appt IF you don’t contact them.

I had appt for Jan 22 and still haven’t heard anything.

It seems with GMR, based on limited input (from TOTV), there is a lot of not first come first served wait listing.

We have been registered since 1/11/2021 and there have been several incidences reported of appointment/contacts being made by those with later registration dates.

No way of knowing hence we wait.

We prefer to not have to drive around the state in search of a vaccination opening.

The newspaper continues to report that GMR is honoring those registrants made before their shutdown.

I had an appointment for the Monday after the Saturday that they ran out. They called me a couple weeks ago and sent me an email with a new date for an appointment. I got my first dose last Friday at the Wildwood community center. I also have an appointment for my second dose on February 26 at the same place

That is an unsubstantiated statement (or is it heresay) and should be stricken from the record. The jury is to disregard. (I watch too many Law and Order reruns).

The same thing happened to us. When our first appointment was cancelled, we were able to schedule our appointments at Publix. We got emails from GMR to reschedule, but there is no where on the site to decline the appointment and the email comes from a “do not reply” address.

Sign up here. Their website and vaccination site run like a well-oiled machine. They are getting in touch with people now who had their appointments cancelled when they ran out of vaccine. I received a confirmation for my second shot last evening. The operation is back up and running now on 466 behind Fresh Market.

Our 1st vaccine was originally scheduled for 1/20. We each received emails yesterday and were scheduled for 2/6. There doesn’t seem to be an exact order of contact from GMR in regard to recontacting scheduled appointments. Be patient, apparently they will get to you at some point.

I also had an appointment scheduled for January 24th. I have not been contacted as yet to reschedule. Since I have to answer all my phone calls from unknown numbers I have had many calls to let me know my car is out of warranty or someone has made a purchase on Amazon for a $1000 dollar Iphone in New Mexico.

My wife and I have been on the Publix vaccination website 3 times now, and Sumter county never even shows up on the list of counties for vaccinations. With all the Publix stores in and around The Villages, you would think we would at least have a couple of Publix to sign up. Marion county has 10 to 12 Publix on the list every time, including this morning. What's up.

My wife and I had our first shot on Jan 14 with a follow up on Feb 11. The directive that came out the other day that said in starting up again they would go by the time stamp on the email sent to you after your first shot. When they set the opening and closing time stamps, we fell 11 minutes off the ending time slot. Talk about luck, ugh. Thankfully when they opened again, we got our email that our 2nd shot is scheduled exactly as before the close down with the same date and time. There is hope they will get to you.

January 11 was a Monday. That was the day there was a "glitch" with the Saferestart website. Contact GMR. That is what I did when I saw that folks who registered AFTER me on Jan 11 were getting their codes and I had not heard anything. I was emailed by a rep of GMR a couple of hours later and was told I would be "hearing" from a local representative. Less than an hour later, I received my code via email and text to make an appointment. I chose that afternoon, Jan.13 between 4-4:30. It happened very quickly after I contacted GMR.

I understand what GMR is doing is making sure the people that got their first shot with them will get the 2nd shot so they will be in the correct time span for the two shots. Then they will start taking people that have signed up but have not gotten their first shot starting with the people who had appointments but didn't get their first shot and then going to new appointments. I just got my appointment time for the 2nd shot. I had the date but no time so they are methodically getting to everyone that signed up. The appointment time has a 30 minute time to show up for the shot like 1:00 to 1:30 and if you come late you have reschedule. They also said do not show up earlier than 10 minutes before your shot time slot.

Clicked on the given website ,click on #2and got our time and date for today. Got our first dose and date and time for the second dose. I would think you'd have gotten yours too so it must be coming.

My wife and I both had appointments with GMR for our Covid vaccination on Tuesday when they were forced to put the program on hold since they didn't get their expected vaccine delivery.. We did no follow up with GMR, but looked for alternatives and found no viable options locally. We hoped the messages we were getting that GMR or the Sumter Co Health Department would contact us as soon as they had the vaccine.

Sure enough we were contacted this Wednesday afternoon by text and email telling we could get an appointment. We jumped on it immediately. We both got appointments for Thursday, yesterday.

We got our shots. It was a very professional operation in the field on Wedgewood Lane. It went very smoothly with NO waiting, other than the mandatory 15 minutes after you get the shot. Other than a slightly sore injection site there were no side affects. We have our appointments 4 weeks later for our second dose. Life is good!

A friend who had an appointment a day or so after our original date got contacted today and has an appointment tomorrow.

THE SYSTEM IS WORKING! Now all we have to hope is that the Feds can deliver the vaccine to Florida as promised.

A GMR staff member said their priority is those who had scheduled appointments, and 2nd doses. They are sending out text and email, but many response codes are not being used. After x amount of time, (didn’t say amount) and resending code, (didn’t state how many times) before they could move on. Original appointment for 1/24

Third site I have attended. First two, signage in place in multiple areas, directed to next opening, Computer used for info, card filled out, asked to verify name correct on card, injection , then sent to a 15 minute waiting area. All cars lined next to each other, with their time on windshield. 5 staff each walking in front of their allotted cars. Then at your given time, staff came to your car, asked questions for any issues, (did think looked a little flushed),gave instructions in case there was a problem later. Removed the time card, and sent you on your way.

GMR map showed lot behind Marshals, ( if you are new to the area, it’s behind Fresh Market) no signs, other than a sheriff sitting in car with lights on.
First person verified your email, second person sent you to one of the 2 tents. ID asked for, by 2 people, card given to person( both names spelled wrong, but they were ok with it. Third person took your time card told you when to leave, honk horn if there was a problem, I am guessing whoever honked with 19 cars bumper to bumper, it could be a challenge. . Then sent to 5 lines of cars. No staff at this point, you left when you choose to. Just a little different experience than other 2 sites.
