Person driving his cart along the path by the lake parallel to the north end of Morse Boulevard, on the lake side of the fence - I wonder why the fence is there? It can't be to stop carts from going there, surely?

Wet grass and quite a steep slope into the lake - recipe for disaster. (Lesson One for driving off road is that you should go straight down a hill, not across it.)

Elderly gentlemen in front of me at Publix wanted to use (2) 50 cents off coupons to buy one product. The cashier politely said "it doesn't work that way". The gentleman got VERY ANGRY and asked to see the manager RIGHT NOW. The young manager came and politely said the same as the cashier. To which the gentlemen said (loudly), that's BS and that he was a MAJOR stockholder in Publix and he insisted on everyone's name so he could take this up the corporate ladder.
I just couldn't figure out how a MAJOR stockholder was so concerned over 50 cents.
Hmmm, why can't I get a hold of (20) 50 cent coupons and get a $10 item free?

I've got one that might top this one. About 5 years ago I came out of Walmart on 466 and headed east on 466 and in front I saw cars all jumping out of the lane. Right by the schools a fellow who was, let's say he was huge, and was riding a mobility scooter going about maybe 10 mph right on the road. No helmet, no license of course, and no lights, no fluorescent sign. It resembled this guy.

The manager and all the other employees there probably laughed their collective butts off after the guy left. Because they know - that the ONLY "major" stockholders of Publix are the heirs to Mr. George's estate. They have - combined - a total of 20% ownership in the company. The other 80% are owned exclusively by the employees.

When they opened the Walmart on 466, I was golf carting it to the big new box. As I started to turn left into the tunnel by Southern Trace, a PT cruiser was coming thru the tunnel at me. People, me included, were blowing their cart horns, yelling & waving, and the sweet old gent just kept coming, turned left and continued down the cart path to who knows where.

I have a friend who advised me either before or shortly after we bought in The Villages
they do not get better as they get older, they get worse.
Up the corporate ladder? In the real world they likely have a clerk who gets all these complaints, likely hundreds per day. Repeated issues in a store, with an employee will be reviewed. I'm sure they also keep track of complaints by the person making them.

We do not see, think, notice there goes another good, normal person.

This guy did not deserve the label "mental illness". The three traits above were much more accurate. Also, please understand there are MANY people in the Villages or surrounding area that have somewhere to go. It's totally unfair to those people to be held up due to someone trying to beat the system. Step aside and let others get checked out.

Ditto to '"you can't fix stupid"

I find it kind of frightening, saw this kind of thing happen with my own mother.
she did not have dementia, but in my opinion she was unreasonable with people at certain places, as in this observation of the man in Publix. It was so unlike her, and yet, her memory was fine, good conversationalist, no dementia that doctors said, she would just do things like this, demand this or that like in the coupon incident here, and/or the kind of do you know who I am, or I know the actual owners of this bank (she did, but very unlike her to use that to demand something) so, I made a note to myself now that I'm there, to be careful NOT be become as mother became as she got older (don't we all say that, make that promise to ourselves, LOL ?), but I have seen that with my own eyes, it's as if they feel less important and are trying to establish their place in the world.

Certainly, you are.

"Publix Super Markets, Inc., commonly known as Publix, is an employee-owned, American supermarket chain headquartered in Lakeland, Florida.[1] Founded in 1930 by George W. Jenkins, Publix is a private corporation that is wholly owned by present and past employees and members of the Jenkins family.[5] Publix operates throughout the Southeastern United States, with locations in Florida (813), Georgia (189), Alabama (78), South Carolina (64), Tennessee (46), North Carolina (46), and Virginia (16).[1]

"Publix stands as one of the largest U.S. regional grocery chains. Locations are found as far north as Stafford, Virginia, as far south as Key West, Florida, while the westernmost location is in Mobile, Alabama. Today, the state of Florida has the largest number of stores, with 831, representing about two-thirds of the outlets.[1] As of January 2019, Publix employs about 193,000 people[6] at its 1,239 retail locations, cooking schools, corporate offices, nine grocery distribution centers, and eleven manufacturing facilities. No, you have not seen it all. I saw a one ton Goodwill Truck turn down the golf trail at the Pinellas gate entry off Morse. A few years back while on my bike going down the hill to make a left through the tunnel next to Havana CC a guy slams on his brakes and flips the cart on the driver side. Clubs and other stuff all over the trail. He gets up, he and another guy pick up the clubs, turn the cart back up right and jump on. He said. "gota' go I have a T time. How do you flip a golf cart on the driver side and not break something?

One more for the "seen it all" files":

We've seen lots of interesting behavior in our traffic circles. I can kind of understand the one I saw who was driving around the circle in the wrong direction because going around traffic circles the "wrong way" was one of the hardest things about driving when I was visiting Australia so maybe he was from some place where they drive on the other side of the road. But a few years ago in the circle at Canal Street and Stillwater Trail, I saw a guy back up because he missed his exit! It's a CIRCLE!
