Went to Groveland Amazon Distr. Center.
Left early, 6:30, got there at 7am, opens at 8, (directions, go 20.4 miles from 466 and 441 intersection, south on 27, turn right on Independence Blvd. and after 1,1 mile , turn right on Republic). After talking to police, not necessary to go early, they never run out of vaccine, traffic lightens up after 11am. Must be 65, no appointments.
After reaching Amazon, traffic splits into 5 lanes, than 4 lanes, park, receive vaccine, wait 15 minutes, head for home.

@FLHealthLake #COVID19 Groveland Amazon site. Eligible residents interested in 1st doses can preregister at Just a moment... (http://myvaccine.fl.gov) to be contacted when an appointment becomes available."

Piece of cake getting there and the directions given already are on the money. There is a signboard on the center island about a quarter of a mile in that tells you that they are only serving up 2nd round shots at the present time.
Whatareyougonnado? This is the world we live in. It was a nice ride going down there although we came back with a big fat ZERO for our effort. Our turn will come, we just have to be patient. I love the way some people constructively post things about the Vaccine that is helpful to others and detest the people who are in your face that I got mine and you got NOTHING! Disgraceful in my opinion.

I got my first shot there yesterday. The easiest way to get there, by far, is the turnpike. Exit on the Tavares exit and go about 3 miles.
Huge backup at 7:30a. Went back at 1:30p and went right to Amazon lost and got in the queue.

I've seen the notation about 2nd doses. The wife and I also went do US27 to the Amazon site Groveland. We were pleased to know that they asked us which dose we were there for, for us it was the 1st vaccination, they vaccinated us and a 15 minute wait and we were rolling home. We took a couple of coolers with us, we had sandwiches, water, etc. We were immediately given a card with the date we are to come back for the 2nd. The whole experience was run smoothly and many might like to know that they also had several portable toilets available.

There is a tweet now that says that due to lack of 1st doses only 2nd doses will be given starting 2/09/21 (today) till further notice.
I would encourage anyone who needs a 1st dose to keep checking the lake county doh website. They tweet--sometimes several times per day-- concerning their status. If you are not on twitter then just Google them and click on the twitter symbol on top to get the latest. They seem to have a huge supply and sometimes tweet mid-day that "lines are short now so we are opening to 1st doses". From Mulberry Grove Area it took me 1 hour and 20 minutes to get there.
I heartily agree that Lake County DOH has been doing a wonderful job. The current site is very efficient. I got both doses there. The no appointment system was chaotic when I got my first dose (1/09) but wow really smooth for my second dose.
Don't give up on 1st doses at this first come first served site-- just keep checking and be ready to go. I figured-- hey what else am I doing :).

Arrived there at 10:00 this morning after a 25 minute drive. Wound up #20 in line. Time from arrival to shot was 15 minutes. Very well run. This was our first dose. There were no signs and no questions asked. Just a short form to fill out. Bring a pen.

They are back to doing only 2nd shots
When we got there a police officer ask if we were there for first or second shots. We said first and he said they were supposed to be doing only second shots but for us to go ahead as they were being pretty lenient. We got through with no problem, hoping we didn’t inconvenience anyone else.

Thanks for the recommendation!
Got our 1st shots at Groveland this morning (2/10) with an appointment for our 2nd shots on 3/3.
We left our home in The Villages at 7:30am and arrived home at 10:30am.
This afternoon I will be very pleased to delete all the websites I’ve been spending frustrating hours on in failed attempts to get shot appointments.

The original place behind Fresh Market seems to have reopened for business.
My wife got a call from the registration that I set up for her. They asked if she would like an appointment date and time for her shot. She told them that she had already gotten hers at the Publix in Deltona and they said thank you and that they would give her spot to the next in line on the list.
Folks just have to be patient, because they really are distributing the vaccinations. Over a 130,000 already given in the Tri-county area.
I received a call from the Villages VA clinic asking me if I wanted my first shot.
We registered in several places, so that just means that someone else will move up on the list.

Why are so many asking what kind of vaccine?
Has one been shown to be better?

Yes, one of them causes hair to grow in your ears and feet, tiny horns at your hairline above your forehead and long nails.................:1rotfl:
I think that some of the vaccines may have a reputation for causing harsher side effects than the other. Even though, at one time the CDC was saying you could get your second shot from a different kind of vaccine, "experts" are now saying that you should stick with the same original serum you started with on the first shot. They are admitting that they have not done any studies regarding mixing the two.
Not to change the subject but, I read about an Israeli study on vaccines that came to a hesitate conclusion or hypothesis that after about 26 days of the shot, the vaccinated should not be able to pass on the contagion. They are saying that the vaccinated should not be able to carry and transmit the disease because once the virus enters the vaccinated person, it would be eradicated. Of course, I am paraphrasing the long study and I am NOT an expert at interpreting medical studies. This is just my take on it, and being as it is a positive possibility, I'll accept it until proven otherwise. Of course, the study also stipulated that there needs to be much more time put into tests regarding this issue. Their point was an educated guess, based on the evidence so far.
AND the way the current infection rate has dropped, I am attributing this stat as correlating with the influx of mass inoculations going on at this time. There has been over 130,000 vaccinations given in the Tri-county area already. It won't be long now, that we will be able to shed the masks and get back to a semblance of normalcy. :a040: :clap2:

The Israeli data is very promising. Another theory was if becoming infected after receiving the vaccine, the viral load is greatly reduced minimizing the risk of transmitting the infection. Time will tell.
