A year ago a raccoon and squirrel got into my attic where the soffit intersects with the roof. The critters are able to stand on the roof at these intersections and push up against the soffit to get in. Massey installed small concrete barriers at all 8 of these locations. They charged $2200. Included in this service was hanging a temporary exclusion door so the critters could get out before it was sealed up. Total time spent on their part was about 3 hours. They justified the cost by the 3 year warranty.
My roof was just replaced so the barriers were removed. Massey offered a 10% discount, so $2000. Not going to happen. I will get Stuf-Fit copper mesh and install myself before I will pay Massey $2000.
Has anyone found a good way to block these openings that's not quite so expensive? How about a pest control service better than Massey?
