Golfed Palmer Laurel Valley to Riley yesterday, Feb 17. Tee boxes, fairways, and greens in good condition. Thin lies on the fairways, but it's winter so that's to be expected. The good news is no bare spots observed like many other courses in TV.

that's good to hear. here is my thought. I heard that getting a rain check for being sick, or injured, is not that easy. it has to be raining to get it? well, does that coincides with us getting a rain check for crappy conditions? imagine going into the pro shop, saying your course is terrible and I want a rain check? it should be allowed, but try that excuse....

Why should thin lies in the fairways be expected in the winter. I worked at several Florida golf course back in the 80s and 90s and they always had excellent conditions int eh winter. They would over seed the fairways and greens with annual rye grass.

The golfers in The Villages have just come to accept poor conditions.

You sir are 1,000% correct. No reason not to be able to grow grass in the winter. AND for the increased prices, THROUGH MAY, they should definitely be better

Overseeding costs money. Rates go up in the high season, and snowbirds are desperate to play golf. Time to make the big profits for the year. I've played a few off-campus courses lately with far better conditions.

You are correct, if you over seed you get grassy fairways, BUT there are major pros and cons about over seeding. You seem to have some knowledge about golf courses but if think a little research into over seeding would help.

AGREE ! We came in 2011 part time. Full time last 4 years. Fairways were partially or all over seeded as I recall. After one year of draught, they said there wasn't enough water to maintain the fairway over-seeding that year. They never over-seeded after that. Around 50,000 population then. I think greens are the most important on a golf course because most players are bumping the ball in fairways.(my opinion). But we shouldn't have to sacrifice greens vs. fairways. Most of our greens are sub par. North courses are better. Why aren't ALL the same? Same Superintendent (manager) right? Residents that play Championships and pay the high rates in winter, plus close to $1000 for Priority, are not getting what we should. Execs are another story since everyone can play them for basically free. (Snowbirds, etc.)

Greens at Palmer 3 weeks ago were pathetic and hope they’ve gotten better but not growing I sort of doubt it but then I’m used to good conditions and know the difference but hope this is accurate
