Since GMR is making only limited information available, I’ve started this thread to learn more about when people signed up at GMR and when they received their shots. I signed up 13 January and have heard nothing.
Any responses from those who have received their shots would be helpful.
Thanks. Tom C

As I mentioned in a previous post. We both signed up on Jan 11 and only my wife received an appointment and shot. I have yet to be contacted other than by the email that stated I was "on the list". Supposedly you are in some sort of order so nearly five weeks after signing up I have yet to receive an appointment. Not having any more success the Publix or Walgreens.

I had an appointment on February 18th. It said to go to Buffalo Ridge. No one was there and no signs telling me that it was moved. I just reregistered and now I'm at the back of the line.

Initially accessed the GMR site 1/13, no appt scheduled, then was told no vaccines available and to be patient.
Kept trying all other sites such as Publix and Winn Dixie but got no where.
On 2/17 we got codes to allow appointments to be scheduled and received 1st vaccine yesterday, 2/19, 8am.
No FLA residency required, just valid ID.
Right before we left our home to receive our vaccines we got email starting the vaccination site had been changed from Buffalo Ridge to opposite direction, in Sumterville. Wonder how many people missed the last minute location change. Thank goodness we read this email!

I went back on GMR site and told them I had been waiting since Jan 11. Got a code this morning and was able to get an appointment for both shots. I expect the site at Sumterville will still be the operating location.

The vacc location changed to the Sumter Community College in Sumterville. It was a little muddy. I had 4 wheel drive. No problems with side effects.
Communication via text as nd email was perfect.

Signed up on the 14th of January, just this week received an email stating that the vaccines are in short supply but no worries we are on the waiting list. We each got our own email.
With all the empty retail business in the Villages, it stinks that they have to move to Sumterville The movie theaters have been empty for months, with plenty of room in the lobby and plenty of distance seating in the theater for ur 15 minute post shot wait.
Isn’t it amazing how lake county was able to use the Sears store and the VERY wealthy Villages are left holding their butts and scratching their heads.
Bet the residents of lake county aren’t trying to get vaccines in the Villages.

I signed up the week of Jan 11 as well. Have heard nothing other than for the email saying I'm still on the list and to be patient. I also signed up on myfl.gov and one other site. Nothing. I registered at Walmart when vaccines became available there, but when I showed up for my appt time, they told me they had nothing in the system for me. Apparently there was a problem with their portal putting appts through. A friend of mine in another state had the same issue with Walmart's system. I'm thinking this is a sign that I shouldn't get this vaccine.........

2 weeks ago, we completed both 1st and 2nd shots administered at the GMR site at original location up north. We applied at the
Safe Restart (https://sumterfl.saferestart.net) website on Jan 10. We received an acknowledgement email first that we were registered, and then received a 2nd email confirming 1st and 2nd shot dates. As this was at the very beginning of sign-ups, we got the first appt for the following Tuesday, Jan 12, and 2nd shot appt for Feb 9.
The following are the new details for sign-ups and shot location.
Note well: if you visit the site today, you will get a pop-up notification of the new location at
Lake Sumter College,
1405 County Road 526A
Sumterville, FL. 33585
They indicate it's the Moderna vaccine, and confirm you will receive dates for 1st and 2nd shot.
GMR may move the site again, so it's wise to check back periodically for updated info.
Other counties are using other vaccines, other locations, and different scheduling.
Alas, one typo, as the website misspells Sumter, calling it "Sumpter" and "Sumpterville". Sigh...

A friend of mine who signed up a little before you did just yesterday got her notice of an appointment. So GMR is working through their list of appointment requests. I think they finished all of those people who already had appointments but couldn't get it because GMR had closed down. So you should hear from them but they are in south Sumter County now.

At this rate of vaccines in Sumter County it will take 9 weeks to get everyone over 65 their first shot. And that assuming the number of folks leaving Sumter county to get theirs stays the same.
I hope they start sending more vaccines to Sumter as other counties complete their Senior vaccines. And it would be great if they set up a second mass vaccine area that is closer. Maybe some churches could volunteer their parking lots for Mon-Fri.
Right now the gap between the percentage of those 65-84 and those over 85 who are getting vaccinated is growing. I’m concerned our older folks will find the drive out to Sumterville is too far, and will not sign up for those vaccines, or won’t head out there for their second shot. Is there an organization that is helping our oldest folks to get vaccines?

We signed up on Jan 15th. My wife received her code last week and I received mine almost a week later (couple days ago). We sent them notice that we already had our first shot and have a scheduled second shot in a couple weeks.

They have already announced that WinnDixie, Sam's Club, Publix and Walmart....maybe Walgreen's will have shots available shortly. It won't be long before everyone will find it easier to get their shots locally. I believe I read that on a website......FloridahealthCovid.org??

Both wife and I signed up on the second day of registration, January 12, first thing in the morning. We both received emails when the facility closed, saying we were both on the registration list in the order of our registration and would be contacted when we could make a reservation. My wife received an email about ten days ago. I have heard nothing. We’ve since gotten our Pfizer shots elsewhere. The GMR facility has been so mis-managed I wouldn’t feel confident that if we ever got a shot there that they would still be there or have dosage for a timely second shot.
Despite our governor’s claims, the vaccination program is running MUCH more smoothly in other states and even in other Florida counties. As my doctor in Ocala told me, “You people in The Villages are getting screwed.”

I signed my folks and husband up just before they ran out of vaccines and shut down at Buffalo Ridge the first time. They emailed all 3 of them Thurs and they got their shots yesterday and this morning. Well run site, very quick in and out. It was also a pleasant ride, not too far past Fenney.

Did the drive today to see where the college was. Drive south on 301. Once you get into Sumterville, you will eventually see the large college entrance sign and that is where you turn left. Take that road a bit further and make another left into the college.
The college may not be the permanent location, from what I have read. Possibly our 3/23 11:30am second appointment maybe relocated. We have a month to find out! I am glad you mentioned the additional 4000 doses! Great news for all!

I signed up around 5 am on January 15th.
Like many of you I received the GMR notice recently that my registration is import to them and that someone will be with me shortly... Ok, I paraphrased here.
As of this Wednesday I can't get the damn thing anyway due to pending surgery. No, it's not elective. And how long afterwards I'm not sure yet.
So GMR, I got like four more days before I start wearing a "Beware! I'm Not Vaccinated!" T- shirt.
Ok, I won't but it's all so nuts isn't it?

My wife, and I were turned away from the Saturday January 16
appointment to receive the Covid vaccine at the Global Medical Response
site in The Villages. That event was deeply disturbing. We felt betrayed
by governmental mismanagement. The Covid-19 nightmare was to continue for
us. As senior citizens, it felt as if the Covid-19 target on our backs had
become far larger and far more vivid. The tsunami of despair loomed ever
larger.
Then, out of the blue, a phone call from a cheerful
individual reported that she was with the department of Health and wanted
to schedule an appointment for the first dose of the vaccine the very next
day. Skepticism wrestled intensely with the hopeful promise of a possible
ending of our Covid nightmare. Worry that a second debacle was on the
horizon grew.
We arrived at the Wildwood Community Center and were greeted by warm
welcomes. Received our injections and were supervised for potential
adverse reactions. Reactions? Yes, joyfully stellar reactions!
We were eager to appear February 19 for the second dose and are profoundly grateful for the efforts of the entire team that worked to resolve the initial failure
that the Global Medical Response organization presented.

Does anyone find it 'curious' (I chose that word carefully) that your healthcare provider cannot provide healthcare to you in the form of the covid vaccine?
Yet, all of the employees, staff etc are vaccinated. Yes, I know they are health care providers... who provide my health care... with noted exceptions.
Curiouser and curiouser...

We also signed up on Jan.13, got an email on Jan. 18 to schedule vax, went to Lake Sumter College in Sumterville on Sat. Jan. 20. The staff was not vaccinated in their office. So not sure why you are confused or as you say curious. Doses were sent to hospitals who had the freezer available for storage. Is that what your are curious about? You thought your doctor had a freezer in the back room to keep doses?
