The total count of Covid19 deaths in the Villages are nearing 4000 Village residents... These are in all three counties...We should be flooded with Home listings and Garage sales soon. This is a very sad time!

I have been following deaths closely in Sumter County which is the Lion's share of The Villages.

Today the death count from Covid-19 for all of Sumter County was 234.

Where in the world did you come up with a figure of 4000????

That number too, 1500, is incorrect. That is the total of all three counties deaths. (Marion, Lake and Sumter)

I do not believe there is any data of Covid-19 deaths in The Villages.

You should take your own advice. 1500 deaths out of 4000 positive tests means about one out every three people testing positive will die! We can argue about whether the actual rate is 1.8% or just under 1% but it sure isn't 37.5%!

LOL, glad to see you edited your post. I would GUESS 90% of The Villages is Sumter County which shows 233 deaths and probably half that came from the Prison (check by ZIP code). Best way would be to look by ZIP CODE and select only The Villages zip codes for closer stats.

Yes.. I made a mistake ! I had a couple of drinks this morning and meant 1500 in the Tri-County area including the Friendliest Town on Earth. If my math is correct we might be at .25 percent fatality rate.. Exceptional

Enough of the Covid fear porn. Look on the bright side. Last year a vaccine was developed in record time and most of the vulnerable class will have their shots by summer. Also influenza has been completely eradicated.

Are they counting deaths FROM Covid or deaths WITH Covid? It seems like 95% of the people who have died in the last 12 months died from Covid. That's just not believable on it's face!!

I cannot imagine what life is like for those who get up everyday and look for Covid numbers to fixate on....I get up and go about my day and live my life, and enjoying it....shut down the TV and close the paper...you might enjoy it too...

This is a huge exaggeration. Positive cases are down nationwide over 57%. Sumter County is a small fish in a big pond. A half million Americans have died. Now that we have vaccines, the numbers of NEW cases will continue to drop. There are still people in hospitals who caught the virus before vaccines were available. Some of them may die and some may not. The virus is also mutating—another new strain in the Northeast. We still don’t know for sure if Pfizer or Moderna will be 95% effective against new strains. Get vaccinated and stop watching the news. Read the New England Journal of Medicine instead. Continue to wear a mask in public. We’re a long way from herd immunity.
