I recently purchased a new Yamaha Drive2 Quietech and simply love it. I had an older Club Car electric cart that I liked a lot, but got a little tired of the maintenance. So I bit the bullet and purchased the new gas Yamaha from The Villages. It runs great, is very quiet, and I have no regrets. I did test drive a new Club Car gas cart from The Villages, and there was no comparison, except in the price. The Club Car was a little bit cheaper (but I'm not sure if it was a 2021 cart or not).

Do you want to drive a gasoline powered vehicle that other than annual oil change, will last just about forever and give you no problems. You'll have fill up the gas tank about every 200 miles or as I do, keep a 5 gallon can of gas in the garage.

Do you want to drive an electric golf cart and you'll need to pay out about $700 every 4 to 5 years for new batteries.

My gas powered 2011 Yamaha, is almost 10 years old it's not fuel injected (that started in 2012-1/2) has never had be repaired or have any maintenance problems. In fact, seeing the price of new Yamahas, in the 12 months I've added seat belts, Liquid Lights LED the full compliment, an AM/FM radio, a Striker Speedometer, an overhead storage shelf, a fan, and a larger cooler.

A friend just replaced the batteries in his electric cart and it was $900.

My 2012 1/2 EFI has 13000 miles no problems. Only thing I changed was belts and one tie rod end was little sloppy.

Take a EZGO Lithium for a ride. Quiet, no smell, strong acceleration, 70 mi range. No battery maintenance, 8yr warranty on the battery.

My 2012 1/2 EFI has 13000 miles no problems. Only thing I changed was belts and one tie rod end was little sloppy.

Over 16,000 miles on 2012.5 EFI 4-seat Yamaha. Just a belt way back because it was a little jerky.

My belts was still good but when I measured the drive belt it was right at out of wear limit. I replaced both of them while I was in there. They tie rod end wasn’t that bad, but I could fell little slop and wiggle in steering wheel and figured it would just get worse. Yes, I did check front end alignment.

IMO.....Yamaha over EZ Go, but Club Car over Yamaha.

Look around the Villages, you will see the majority of golf cars are Yamaha's.

That's exactly what we did when we were moving to The Villages 4 years ago. I had thought I wanted electric (no noise or smell, but fussing with batteries) over gas (longer range but noisier) but when I looked around at what people were driving, I saw it was overwhelmingly gas carts and predominantly Yamaha. We got a Yamaha just as they introduced "QuietTech" and while it's not as quiet as electric, it's a LOT quieter than the older models. And what with The Villages continuing to grow so far and wide, I'm all the more glad for the range of a gas cart.

Of course, this is just my opinion (I don't want to start a flame war of gas vs. electric) and your mileage may vary.

Electric carts are quieter, quicker off the line and smoother running than gas carts. Right now gas carts may have some advantages, but electric carts are beginning to close the gap.

Hopefully the new batteries will not drop crap on the floor. I moved Dad's cart and TVs floor protector. Acid leaked thru the protective mat and left spots on the painted floor. Memories of why I have a Yamaha gas cart.
