I was at the Strawberry Festival last night which was excellent! If we have a Super spreader event this would be it! We wore masks just to stop the nasty dusty air from entering our old fragile lungs! It seems that the new construction has created some sort of Dust Cloud over the South End of Town! The cars were covered in dust and not pollen! Definitely carries a strange odor down there!

You don't like dust and smell?
Under our new lockdown system of living in squalor, our rooms are thick with the stuff, and the smel is dire.
You get used to it though after a while!:icon_wink:

The dust and dirt issue is not limited to the "South" villages.
We are just South of 466 (built 2004) and over the years have concluded this area has the dirtiest air of any place we have ever lived. Dust in the house is an ongoing, never ending battle.
We have adjusted/acclimated.

I go to Brownwood a few times a week for MVP. If you wanted to see dust, you should have been in the south area in 2017 when they excavating Trailwinds Commercial Park 165 acres of land. That was farm land before and for months they removed all the trees except in the very back and leveled the ground and turned over every blade of grass until it was one huge dirt site. Installed sewage, street lights, curbs and streets, it was probably a 9 month project and I drove 466A west almost every day and that a dust cloud for sure.
Those who lived directly behind in St. James and Tamarind Grove and across 466A in Pinellas suffered the worse. I'm a 1/2 mile away and I couldn't keep my car clean all that time. I couldn't wait until that was done and Lowes opened. The home in the right corner are in St. James.

I believe what you are seeing is pollen. We live south of 44 and there is no dust except near where construction is going on. However, the oak and pine pollens are getting very thick and are all over the cars and even running down the edges of the street when irrigation water or rain comes down. If you have a lanai that is not enclosed you will see it on your furniture and tables.

My eyes have been burning for almost 2 weeks because of the pollen, it's gotten worse in the past couple of days. Gets into your sinuses too, and your lungs. It will be gone shortly before the lovebug invasion.

I went to the Strawberry Festival at BW two years ago. I was at MVP and at noon walked over. It was right there. It was not crowded that much, the problem was the heat. It felt like 90 degrees and on that asphalt it was hot. I like the heat, but wife doesn't. It was OK, but once you've seen it, you don't need to go back. I rather just buy fruit in the grocery store.

Malorganite is sewage and they sell it. Manure? There are bunch of cows that are laughing that not only are people buying this, they have a theme song.
Here? We are turning rather poor farmland into a senior Disneyland.

Malorganite may be nothing more than cow sh*t, but it does the job. Up north when I had a big grassy yard, everybody would ask how do you get it so green and everything grows so well. I would buy 30 pound bags for $11 at Walmart. What's nice is you can't burn your grass, it's all natural and no chemicals. Here in a CYV, I have no grass but I still buy it for the shrubs, it's great. The odor is only bad for the first day and that's if you water right away. The only reason to buy it at the festival is because the stores don't keep it in stock. I bought a bag at the 466 Walmart about six months ago, and the last bag that day.

This is a Malorganite yard, I put it on the grass, the shrubs, everything. I never had a landscaper up there or down here, I always enjoyed working in the yard, you get to see the fruits of your labor and it's good exercise.

fwiw: Milorganite is actually a byproduct of municipal waste treatment plants that makes a great fertilizer - not human waste per se, but it does have an initial odor.
"Milorganite is composed of heat-dried microbes that have digested the organic material in wastewater. It's manufactured by the Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District, which captures waste water from the metropolitan Milwaukee area and uses naturally occurring microbes to digest the nutrients. After the organic matter has been consumed, the cleaned water is returned to Lake Michigan and the resulting material is dried and marketed as Milorganite."

Watch what you say! The BIG BROTHER of TV Land will get you. Here in La, La Land we can only say GOOD things about our masters ( I mean wonderful developers). Everything is the BEST here - especially the air quality. The golf courses DON'T really have excess fertilizer runoff. And there are NO illegal aliens working on TV Land lawn and maintenance crews. And I did NOT really see dead turtle bodies (not hit by cars) lying on the north side of 466A the day after the mosquito crews sprayed toxins. Wonder why you never (hardly) see a mosquito? The toxin Police say NO, NO, not in OUR La, La, Land! I could go on and on but, you get my point. Have a happy La, La day!

I have a dark-painted car and I often see lots of large size yellow pollen on it. That pollen MAY (?) be too large to affect human lungs? I am not a Physician so I am just posing that question. Maybe we-all should wear masks all through the Spring and Summer? My lungs seem to function less well in the summer. I am probably more allergic than most. But, be wary because allergies seem to increase with age.

Here's Bonifay on the map, I've not seen any water treatment plant in that area. If there were, I don't believe it would have any odor, that's a sewage treatment plant you want to know about. If this water treatment plant did exist and was near Bonifay, and did have odor, the people living in Sanibel would smell it, not people living in the new homes 8 to 10 miles south.

Here's the plant that might produce a small amount of odor. It's the sewage plant located off Buena Vista next to Bogart & Bacall Executive courses.

I had bad pollen allergies starting when I was around 5 years old, so bad my eyes would swell almost completely closed and I could hardly breath. I was given what was available back in the very early 50's to help but what they gave me usually made me very tired. As time went on I used over the counter meds such as Contact which worked very well. As I got older the symptoms gradually disappeared and now at 74 pollen does not bother me, I haven't taken meds for it in years so it doesn't always get worse when you get older.

Thanks, children tend to have allergies. As to older retired people, I wonder if there is a pattern? Maybe people move south as they retire and run into MORE pollen and DEVELOP pollen allergies? I have heard that people are having more immune system problems and that may (?) be related to our aging population?

Super spreader event? I love that ridiculous terminology, as though you can hide from a virus. Sooner or later everyone in this country will be exposed to this virus, just like you are the cold virus or the flu virus. Except in this case the media and other supposed Government experts, have turned otherwise intelligent people into bumbling idiots with their faces covered maybe for the rest of their lives?

I disagree with every sentence there. I find that "super spreader event" to be a nice descriptive terminology for an event (often in Fl.) where people ignore social distance and ignore mask-wearing. Many fine productive American citizens have died from contracting CV at such an event, like the one held yesterday. And those attending such an event may have KILLED themselves and, who knows how many others. That those unrealistic attitudes are WRONG can be proven by the world statistics where the US has the most (# 1) CV infection and has had the worst response to the CV Pandemic. There PROVEN wrong! The other sentence about CV being comparable to the flu and colds is a laughable comparison - it's like comparing a monster truck to a go-cart or a bicycle.

As far as "constant noise " goes, the lawn maintenance types with powerful riding mowers and little or no mufflers NEVER - EVER go away. They are a year-round problem And with the small lots in TV Land and no sound deadening fences. I for one get a headache whenever they come near my house - even 2 houses down or across the street. In an ideal world, or the future, ALL lawnmowers will be battery-powered. Eventually what you are complaining about will go away. But, it IS very true that nail-guns are very loud and annoying.

I am sure your neighbors "whose backyards back up to Lowes" were aware there was a large area of vacant land behind their homes. I doubt they were surprised when work began on that beautiful shopping that has made all of our lives better.
