I cannot find the thread concerning this from a month or do ago. I have a lantana. Basically, is it worth the trouble to put up a fake 'wall' between the garage attic and the main home attic to keep heat from exchanging?

I am considering using foil sided 1/2 thick insulating blankets as an easily removable wall between the garage attic and the main home,. The main home has a ton of blown in insulation.

So, if I put up a fake wall there, and also staple the foil insulation onto the roof rafter to deflect heat outwards and keep cooler inside, will I accomplish anything? I have a brand new roof and I'd hate to kill it early because of heat as well.

All, I really want to do is keep the garage and the area over the garage cooler so that I don't destroy anything stored up there.

The other option is a split in the garage, but that means building permit, etc, etc...

Ideas?

The purpose of insulation is to slow down, not prevent, the rate of heat transfer from one space to another. In my opinion, it makes little or no sense to install insulation between two unconditioned spaces. You will get very little benefit.
