I haven't used my mower in a few months and was pleasantly surprised when it started right up today. I had to stop mowing after about 45 minutes and when I went h=back out it wouldn't start.

This happened a few years ago and it was just a dirty carburetor. I had a local guy that cleaned it out and it's been fine since. I have a feeling that it's the same thing but the guy that fixed it last time has moved away.

Does anyone know where I can get this looked at?

Is there anyone that will come to my home and look at it?

Does anyone know if putting a product like Gumout will work?

Need to check for spark. Small chance coil not firing? Do this by removing the spark plug connect spark plug wire, lay the plug against metal head, pull rope and watch for blue spark.

If got fire You need to get the spay can of Gumout carburetor cleaner. Take the spark plug out spray it ( with rubber gloves on) wire brush it, check gap, spray some down the spark plug hole, pull the rope to blow out excess. Install the plug.

Now drain fuel tank of the old fuel, pour fresh fuel in. Remove the air cleaner spray gumout down the carburetor Venturi. Pull the rope, it should fire off the carburetor clean in till clean gas get pulled up.

You may have to spray and cranks several time before it take off on it’s own. If that don’t work carburetor will have to be removed and cleaned? Sounds like lot but not.

After thought, check the air filter, and oil.

Most likely the Carburetor. Agree with Topspinmo’s suggestions, try the gum out first before pulling the carb., once pulled and cleaned you will probably need new gaskets and a carb. bowl O ring (and possibly a new float bowl needle) to complete clean out and re-build. Once problem is fixed never put gas containing ethanol in the mower again and it should be good to go indefinitely. I just cleaned and rebuilt the carburetor on our power washer that had the typical ethanol gum up clogging the carb. jets and had to order the gaskets and O ring from Amazon. I like to use a torch tip cleaning set (found in the welding area of either Lowel’s or Home Depot) to clean out the jet ports in the Carb. And then clean everything up before reassembling with an air compressor blower. Good luck.

I have done on certain models just remove the bowl ( if Honda design carburetor without drain plug) sprayed the float and needle areas sprayed bowl and cleaned. Lubed the o-ring that seals the bowl and that worked. Usually gumout down the carburetor does it. On some models carburetor bowl has drain plug, on them I just removed the drain plug, let it drain, then spray up through the drain hole using the red nozzle, let the carb cleaner drain. That usually works also, as long as you got fresh gas in tank. Still have to prime carburetor till bowl fills up and it take off on its own.

Unless it real expensive lawnmower, the home calls usually more than the lawnmower worth?
