I read with interest the article in the local paper where the Wildwood City Commission would be creating a new dependent utility district similar to NSCUDD that was created by the Sumter County Commissioners in 2010. The article stated that a Mr. Roger Kass, a Marsh Bend resident presented a proposal to do this and has volunteered to serve on the initial board of directors for this new district. After noting a position that Roger Kass has held, I am reminded of the catchphrase used in the Disney TV series The Mandalorian. “This is the way”

Mr. Kass stated that “I think the big advantage to any of these utilities dependent districts is it allows the residents to be involved in the operation and oversite of their utilities”. These are good thoughts. I was amazed that Mr. Kass and other residents who are also volunteering to serve on the board have such forethought and sway to make this happen so very quickly with his letter to the commission dated February 28th, 2021. Then I discovered that Mr. Kass served as president of The Villages Homeowner’s Advocates. “This is the way”

Nothing happens in The Villages without you know who behind it. “This is the way.” As the information released to the public is sparse, I will follow this adventure as more information becomes available. Please note that I am not expressing an opinion on the merits of creating a new utility dependent district or on Mr. Kass qualifications for the board. I am merely suggesting that the altruistic slant of this news item is more attuned to my observation that “this is the way” for things to happen in The Villages. :icon_wink:
