No, and if you pre-registered on my vaccine.fl.gov they will send you emails that allow you to register for this week, but despite them even having a 60 and over category on their signup, neither GMR or the Lake Sumter college site will vaccinate you. If you do get the emails I suggest you save the for Saturday night and then sign in and see if they give you options for next week.

My husband and I were both able to sign up for appointment through Publix for next week. (We're both between 60-64) Hubby asked when he was at Publix the day after the announcement and was told we could try this morning starting at 7am for an appt next week, so that's what we did. Both of us had to hang out online for 2+ hours before the "Book Now" button showed up, but we now have appointments for Tuesday! Two different locations, because I got in about a minute before he did, but neither is very far away. The process was a little nerve-wracking, but we're very happy to have those appointments! We were given appts for the 2nd shot at the same time (same location & time slot).

If you sign up on a Monday or Friday, you get the Moderna. If you sign up on Wednesday, you get the J&J. (Day you make the appointment, I mean, not the day you get the shot) They currently only open online for appointments MWF at 7am.

When DeSantis announced five days ago that 60+ folks could get their shots starting this Monday I signed hubby up at myvaccine.fl.gov/ with the option for people who don't currently meet the requirements but want to be on a waiting list. Got an email this evening to book him an appointment. I had to check the box that said he was 60 or older. His appointment is on Wednesday morning in Leesburg.

I'm hoping they are still doing Pfizer (which is what I got there). Anecdotally, it seems that more folks have side effects with their second Moderna shot vs Pfizer. In any case, I'm thrilled that he will be vax'd soon. Can't wait to head up north and see that cute little grandson! I know many of you feel the same.

GMR now accepting 60 plus for vaccine - a person signed up and got an appt on Monday. It's located at St Vincent dePaul Catholic Church on Powell Rd in Wildwood. Very close and you get a date and time to go.......sumterfl.saferestart.net

Are you eligible for vaccine in Florida if you're 62, own a home at The Villages, but is a snowbird who doesn't reside here 6 months?

YES. We became residents in 2020 and have Florida driver's license. We own our home in the Villages.

Are you eligible for vaccine in Florida if you're 62, own a home at The Villages, but is a snowbird who doesn't reside here 6 months?

You are eligible. You do have to bring two forms of proof.

The state of Florida requires that those receiving their first vaccine dose provide proof of residency meeting criteria 1, 2, or 3 below.

Valid Florida driver license issued by Florida State Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (FLHSMV).
OR
Valid Florida identification card issued by Florida State Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (FLHSMV).
OR
If a customer cannot present #1 or #2, the customer can prove satisfactory Florida residency by presenting a copy of any two of the following items if they reflect a Florida residential address (Note: A P.O. box or commercial/business address is not sufficient and the second item must be from a different category than the first item):
Category A: a deed, mortgage, monthly mortgage statement, mortgage payment booklet, OR residential rental or lease agreement
Category B: a utility hookup or utility work order dated within 60 days before the date of vaccination
Category C: a utility bill dated within two months of the date of vaccination
Category D: mail from a financial institution, including checking, savings, or investment account statements, dated within two months of the date of vaccination
Category E: mail from a federal, state, county, or municipal government agency, dated within two months of the date of vaccination
Category F: proof of a Florida residential address for the individual’s parent, stepparent, legal guardian, or other person with whom the seasonal resident resides in Florida, PLUS a written statement from the person with whom the seasonal resident resides stating that the seasonal resident does reside with him or her.

I’m 62 and my husband 64. I was able to make an appointment at CVS in Ocala for tomorrow. There still many appointments available yesterday. I did a search for CVS COVId vaccine. Clicked on Florida and put in zip code. Ocala has two locations. They update everyday so if it says none available try again tomorrow. That is what I did.

The CVS web site will not let me schedule if I enter my age as less than 65.

If you want the Johnson and Johnson vaccine call 352-815-2216. Easy to make appt, now under 65 is good I believe. Over in Coleman at Sumter college. Very well organized.

A friend put my wife and I (both age 63) onto this and now I'll share it with you. Heart of Florida Health Center in Ocala (search it up on the web) is making appointments for the 60 and up crowd right now, on line with instant confirmation. Yesterday I booked us both for this Friday, the 19th. I got confirmation and printed out the forms (very important) to fill out and take with us.

As to the "nerve-wracking part - that is the problem with opening up the shops to lower age groups too soon. 60% of CV hospitalization is due to the over 65 group. Only 61% of all US seniors over 65 have gotten any shots. Of the remaining 39%, probably 20% more would want their CV shot. That puts excess CV cases and burnout problems on hospital staff. Florida and other states appear to be lowering the age requirements TOO SOON! This will probably be a continuing problem. Governments, like Fl. , are supposed to SOLVE problems, not CREATE them. Problems like "nerve-wracking" and 2 hours spent wasting good time for 2 people and then driving to different locations. All Fl. had to do was wait about 2 weeks until all over 65 people that wanted shots could get THEIRS. I don't blame any individuals. I just find Fl. to be VERY disappointing in their handling of the CV crisis (and other states also). No one in Fl should be taking a victory lap for their "wonderful" handling of this Pandemic. I hope there are lessons learned because there could be another Pandemic around the corner. Or even another BIG problem that requires a "GOOD" government to intervene. Will Fl. be prepared ???????

We have been through the mill with trying to schedule shots. Fortunately, we both had success helping others get their appointments at various spots.

Unfortunately, we had little success scheduling our own. I must admit that after success at Publix that I was going according to the CDC guidelines instead of the guidelines of the Governor. We are all squared away now and it feels good to be on the path that we wanted to be on.

Our main concern was helping a gentleman who is 91 years old and has no idea about a computer so he couldn't get an appointment himself. He wanted the Moderna shot and that's the way it worked out at Publix. He just had the second shot yesterday and had no rough side effects other than a sore arm.

We had three different offers lately and selected Publix. All our ships came in back to back. We feel fortunate. Wish I could give the other appointments to others who need them but I understand it can't happen that way. Unfortunately, those who are waiting don't really understand and I look like the bad guy for not giving them our unused spots. Oh well, no good deed goes unpunished. I tried to help em out.

Monday morning I went to CVS.com with no problem & no long waiting (like for Publix). There were tons of open appt times for the entire week for the Pfizer one ... if you don't mind driving to Ocala, because that's the only one that came up for 32162. It's the CVS by the Paddock mall. I don't have the patience for the Publix site anymore, spent too much time trying for my friends & family over the last few months. I went the easy route for me :)

Ignore the 1st screen, later in the sign up it will say 60 & over. I thought the same thing...
