Going to be in Asheville for 4 days in June. Of course, we will visit the Biltmore.

Question is: should we stay right on grounds at the Biltmore, 1 day or 2? or stay downtown and travel there.

Other ideas on things to do or see in Asheville.

It has been many years but I remember enjoying our stay at the Grove Park Inn. I have no idea if it still is good or even there.

we stay on property. Yes little on the high side but the ground are worth the stay. Hotels took a big hit in the area, if staying off property, research reviews carefully

Grove Park Inn gets my vote. The old wing is steeped in history. I read that high-ranking Nazi POWs were housed there during WWII. That must have been some really hard-time.

Lived there for 4 years and I would stay at the Grove Park Inn. Have dinner on the patio and take in the beautiful view. They also have a golf course there

lived an hour away, loved Grove Park Inn, cool artsy community carved in mountains, great golf courses.

Go have lunch and a beer at Sierra Nevada brewery. Make sure to get a order of Duck Fat Fries. It is out by the airport and is spectacular.

Stay downtown.... Take the Trolly tour, go to the Grove Park inn, visit the Biltmore and Antler Village, Lexington Glass works, eat at the Chestnut Restaurant, Tacos at the White Duck, Beers at one of the many Breweries downtown, Visit the River Arts District, drive the Blue Ridge Parkway, drive to Smoky National Park, visit Lake Junaluska, go to one of Ashevilles rooftop bars at night! And there are 100 more things I forgot.

And breakfast at the Moose cafe, biscuits the size of hockey pucks and applebutter, yummmm!

Grove Park Inn still there, still glamourous and offering great restaurant overlooking the mountains and great spa with packages and great massages. Blue Ridge Parkway just at edge of Asheville area and its scenic drive gives lots of opportunities to see grand vistas and great photo ops. Plus the Pisgah Inn and restaurant on the parkway has great food and the usual great scenery. Asheville has more than its share of Berkeley CA wannabes but mostly they stick to hemp and liberal fad du jour, so you can observe the species without disturbance.

Another vote for the Grove Park Inn, especially if you;re into a high end spa experience. I think you need at least 2 nights there, to experience the beauty and serenity of sitting on one of their many porches (with or without a meal or a drink) and just taking in the beauty of the location
