From time to time, we are told by an individual made their final decision to move here after reading Talk of The Villages. We see it mentioned here too.
I'm curious how many people found TOTV, read what was here, then made the decision to move here. In effect, TOTV played an important role in you decision.

We made "the decision", then found TOTV. Might not have made "the decision" if we read TOTV first. Lots of negative views by people who don't live here. We're really, really glad we made "the decision". First class place. First class neighbors. First class facilities. The Morse's have and continue to do a first class job..

It took over 5 years and several lifestyle visits but we recently bought. I wanted to buy fairly soon in the process but had many reservations. But several years of daily lurking on TOTV helped remove any doubt.
My wife was more sceptical. She kept asking tough questions and raising objections similar to the many posts here. Being able to search the forum and find all the answers, the pros, the cons and more on just about any issue was powerful. The contributions of the many posters is simply invaluable. There is information here on many important topics that I never would have even considered if not for TOTV. I'm an engineer so it is my nature to over analyze just about every important decision. I went from "having reservations" to "fully committed and comfortable".
The reduced prices, lower interest rates and tax credit were the final link in the chain.

We purchased first, on impulse, but very, very happy. Then we discovered TOTV, we found it extremely informative. Now, we tell prospective buyers that we meet to check out TOTV. We do not hire any vendors until we consult TOTV.

Yes, TOTV was definitely influential in my deciding to purchase in TV.
After our first visit in January 2008, my wife and I decided decided to do a lifestyle visit in July 2008. In preparation for that visit, I started researching The Villages online to find out more information. I did a google search and found TOTV.
TOTV was a wealth of information on TV. I started reading every thread that appeared to have any relevant information starting from the very beginning. Wow, that was a lot of posts. That meant I looked at most of the threads. I found lots of information that I could not find elsewhere. I even found answers to questions I hadn't even thought of. Some information was negative but even that helped me to make my decision. I felt a lot more comfortable deciding to live here because I knew most, if not all, of the negatives here. TOTV also made me feel more comfortable about some of the unique aspects of living here.
Seriously, deciding to purchase it here would have been much more difficult without TOTV.

:welcome: Great decision!
I discovered TOTV after we bought. But, I must say, TOTV has enhanced our TV experience, both because it introduced us to some wonderful people and because we get great information and ideas from fellow posters.
I so enjoy the people and conversations on TOTV!

I discovered TOTV after our first visit with friends. It was absolutely a huge part of the reason we chose The Villages.
The information obtained here is real and the people are real...
(Isn't that a line from Judge Judy?)

I didn't find TOTV until I was already here 2 years. Since then it has been a wealth of good information.
TOTV was highly influential in our decision. After our first visit I was on the site daily. The information on TOTV reduced the second guessing and made me confident and comfortable in what was a momentous decision. We love it here. Heck, I could be on Gracie's cheerleader squad.

Prior to visiting TV I did a lot of on-line research. I search for both positive and negative sources. The majority of what I found was very positive. In my searches I came across TOTV and found it very informative and it certainly was a significant tool in helping me make my decision.

We did our LSV, and then came home and started to do research on line when I found TOTV. It played a very big role in our decision to purchase, as we could ask questions and get REAL un-biased answers from residents.

I heard about TV over 5 years ago and was interested in the lifestyle but wasn't sure about the affordability and whether I wanted to move back to Florida again. Discovered TOTV two years later and you guys answered all my questions plus many I hadn't even thought about. After about a year of lurking and reading, we finally did the Lifestyle Visit. We were sold. Went back home, put the house on the market and 15 months later, we were Villagers. TOTV was a major influence in getting us to come and check TV out. My sincere thanks to all who contributed to TOTV over the years.

TOTV was a major influence...
We lurked and asked alot of questions! My other half did all the research and when we moved down here a year ago August, he had a complete list of all the things that we needed to do AND a list of people to do them! Within the first two weeks, everything was done to absolute perfection!
My thanks to all the contributors to TOTV!

Like Salpal, we purchased first, on impulse, and then found TOTV. Now I depend on this website for information on all topics from landscaping to dogsitters!
When we bought in 2007, I met a lot of friends through TOTV. And some of them have now become my best buddies. And some of them even come to Canada to visit me when I'm in exile!
TOTV is as much a part of my day as my morning coffee. :mornincoffee:

My wife and I made our first visit one week ago after looking at TV online for a few years. We were amazed that it really was as nice as the website had shown. Although we are about 2 years away from being able to buy in TV, we are sold on the lifestyle as well as the homes. The people we met and the places we visited were all quite nice. We can't wait for our return visits to see more. This forum was great for information we needed to make our visit. Thanks to all of your members for being so informative. We hope to meet soon on future visits. GregnTam
