We can’t believe it is almost here. In a little over 4 weeks we will moving into our bungalow.

For anyone living in the Alden Bungalows, next to Brownwood, I have a couple of questions:
1) CenturyLink, on its website, claims to have fiber optic available in these villas. Is that true?
2) Do you have the CenturyLink WiFi modem? If you do is it strong enough to go through the entire house? I’m wondering how much signal is lost going through the block construction.

Thank you, and we cant wait to join all of you in this incredible place.

Kevin and Teresa We live in Collier, behind Eisenhower Rec Center. Yes, we have CenturyLink fiber. We pay $49 for life (strictly $49, no taxes, fees). Check and see if this internet only plan is still being offered. What is nice about this plan, you don't have to try and renegotiate a lower price each year!

We had ours' installed a year ago. At that time, they were required to install their modem. After they left, I swapped it out with my Netgear. You can print a return mailing label (free) from their website and mail back their hardware. In a few days, call their Customer Service. Give them your tracking number and then they will remove their modem monthly fee from your bill. The whole process worked well for us! We have not had any problems with a signal getting lost through our block home.

I have had Century Link Fiber Optic since my villa was new in 2011 in Tamarind Grove, just across 466A, maybe two miles north of Collier. Anyway, I think you mean a router. With fiber optic I have no modem, we plug the computer or my router directly into the wall jack. I also have a Netgear Router I bought at Best Buy for $89 and it works great for the TV, the computer, the printer. I never had Century Link's Router or Modem. You are correct about the router versus modem! I said modem since the initial post said modem and I didn't want to confuse the poster. It is really a router CenturyLink brings out. I replaced it with my Netgear Router. I am so happy with this setup!
