Just cruised thru grocery stores (post vaccine). Not stopped for no mask (I would comply if asked). Used hand sanitizer if provided. Avoided close contact with others. I'm encouraged in spite of the Debbie Downers that will undoubtedly disagree.

After experiencing and living thru a pandemic, I now understand why Howard Hughs took such precautions! Eating in restaurants knowing that the transfer of body fluids thru mouth & nose has definitely altered my dining habits. I will now order All mixed cocktails as doubles to kill any and all germs!

re: (no mask)
I am coming down the TV next week. Is it now the custom that when one is not wearing a mask indoors, Floridians assume that the individual has been inoculated? Is this typical of groceries and other venues?

Good for you. I for one will still wear a mask when I am down there to continue to protect myself. I would love to eat out as well but my wife says she is still not comfortable in letting me do so. We shall see, maybe we can do an outside seating place.

No, that is not the custom or assumption.
The custom, if there is any, is to be considerate of others and abide by the wishes of the establishment by wearing a mask. My assumption when I see an individual not wearing a mask in a grocery store is somewhat less than complimentary.

Still interested in what the sign on the door says. If it says "mask required", if I were the manager I would have thrown the OP out regardless of vaccine status. If it said "mask requested", then no foul. So which was it?

I fear the 'tar and feather' mentality is taking hold in some folks...
And I'll take a bourbon on the rocks please. Thank you.

If the sign on the door says "Masks required" then I'll assume that whoever is inside NOT wearing a mask is either suffering from dementia (in which case their keeper should put the mask on their face for them), or intentionally disrespectful and rude.
If the sign on the door says "masks requested" or "masks encouraged" or there's no sign at all, then people can do as they wish with regards to masks inside the store, and I have to respect that. I'll still wear a mask inside the store anyway, until I'm vaccinated, even if there's no sign.

I don't assume that at all. We are still supposed to be wearing masks when in a public setting and it is not known who is and who is not vaccinated. Until the CDC gives us a directive that fully vaccinated people can navigate this world maskless, I will continue to mask up in INDOOR public buildings. And........I'm well beyond the two weeks after the second shot so I'm as immune as I'm gonna get.

I have had both of my vaccination doses, but I still wear a mask indoors in public places.
From what I understand, the vaccine does not prevent one from contracting the virus. It prevents a person from getting very ill or dying when they do contract the virus. I also understand that if you have been vaccinated and get the virus that you can still pass it on to others. My understanding is also that masks protect those around the wearer more so than they do the wearer.
So until everyone over the age of 40 that wants to the vaccine gets it, I will continue to wear a mask in public indoors as a courtesy to my fellow human beings.

I've had my 2 doses. I feel safe, but I still worry for others.

Please note: I would have complied with a request to be masked, and will in the future if an establishment "requires" it. I respect the rules of an establishment. No need to "throw" me out.

Sign was not the point. Response of the establishment was.

So you're telling us you just waded into the grocery store without a mask to test the response of the management?????
