Flew to Tucson for quick trip Labor Day weekend and loved it. I recommend a visit here. Stayed at the Westin La Paloma outside city center on hotel points. Be sure to visit the Arizona Sonora Desert Museum, which is 90% outside. Yes it was hot (but cooler than Phoenix), but an escape drive up Mt. Lemmon takes away 20 degrees. It's quite the retirement community too, and I can see why.

And it stays hot through October. I suggest if you want to visit the area plan your trip Nov-Mar. Summer can start as early as April and it has been known to occasionally hit 100 degrees during that month. Yes it is very dry which makes the heat tolerable to an extent, but the ambient air is similar to sticking your head in an oven. I lived there 30 years and worked out in the weather every day so I DO speak from experience!

Sister in law chose Marana Arizona north of Tucson for her retirement and loves it. Very active in O.L.L.I.

The main reason she chose Heritage Highlands in Marana Arizona was due to her arthritis. The dry air seemed to relieve the pain immediately.

We've been wondering how the humidity in Florida affects arthritis pain.

Arizona does seem excessively HOT in the summer; yet people we know do prefer it to Florida's humidity.

Getting back to the arthritis pain, I've read someplace that Arizona has the same amount of rhuematologists and arthritis specialists as does any state.
Go figure.

If you missed the BioSphere, right outside of Tucson, you missed the best thing to see!

My arthritis has been better since I moved to TV. Might be a coincidence.

I'm in Phoenix now and have been for 3 weeks caring for an ailing brother! It is BEYOND MY COMPREHENSION why anyone would choose to live in this "oven". I'm so hungry to see something green growing and all the colorful flowers we have in TV. One thing is sure here, you won't be telling anyone you live in the "blue house on the corner"!! Nothing but dirt colored homes around here. Will be returning to TV next week and will kiss the ground when we get home.:a040:
