So does anyone know when the Villages' theaters will be re-opening?
Also why haven't they finished the Rialto renovations, construction has been going on else where?

It’s kind of like the chicken and the egg, which comes first. Or better yet “The Field Of Dreams” If they open they will come.

IMO re the theater matter....snore.
We LOVE to see "free" movies from Netflix or DirecTV from our large screen with theater sound in the comfort of OUR living room.... No heads in front, no smells, no crunch noises, no "excuse me...", no yada during the movie, no lines, etc etc.
The ONLY thing that will bring us back is to see Rialto when done and IF a good blockbuster comes out. that's it.

That is not fair to the actors and actresses who are used to make 15-20 million per picture and have seen their income go down to nothing.
How will they live in the style they have become accustomed to?

Very few make that kind of money. Probably the top .0005 percent of actors and actresses. That is 5 in a 100000.

How many people are behind the making of a movie like Avengers: Infinity War? - Quora (https://www.quora.com/How-many-people-are-behind-the-making-of-a-movie-like-Avengers-Infinity-War)
Blockbuster movies with lots of special effects often have thousands of people involved in planning, making, marketing, distributing, and then in showing them.
Watch all the credits some time of movies.

2,000 -3000 families directly supported, in a epic production, then 5,000 theaters, employing 10,000 more etc . In a good year, 550 films made. Plus plus plus, advertising, marketing. And popcorn, soda etc .

We’ve really mastered searching for good movies and series on Prime TV and Netflix. In fact Netflix is releasing almost fifty new movies this week. Why go back to standing in line and dropping more than a double sawbuck to see anything other than a top-rated new release? We’ve decided that we’ll only go back to the movie theaters if a movie is so compelling that we’re unwilling to wait for its release on TV.
And our homemade op corn is better!

As a public service announcement by post yesterday about feeling sorry for so called Hollywood stars was tongue in cheek or facetious.
Surprised several people thought I was serious

I went ot the Old Mill Yesterday to see the March Madness game and got this info. Brownwood may not open at all. It was nixed but they are doing a 2nd study to determine if its feasable to reopen. The Rialto is not going to finish the renovations and are looking to see what else may be available for the location. Thats info from an employee but who knows if he really knows!!!

Saw 3 good movies at Lake Sumter Theatre. They also have a comedy club on Tuesdays which I think is 15.00 per ticket. I feel good supporting our own theaters. I am also wondering when Brownwood and Rialto theaters will reopen. Anyone know?

The Lake Sumter Theater is under management by The Villages. I have trouble seeing the schedule online, but if I go to thevillagesentertainment.com and then choose "Buy Tickets" the movie schedules have shown up. - You will see the schedule and description of the movie and do not have to buy online, since there is a small fee to buy online. Also, I was in line the other day and they were having trouble finding the already-bought-online-ticket of the person in front of me.
Lazy Macs often has some kind of entertainment scheduled from 3pm to 5pm (happy hour) in the theatre lobby, so if you like, you can go to a movie then stop off there, or stop off there, then go to a movie. No purchase required from Lazy Macs. You can see the schedule for Lazy Macs entertainment at the villages entertainment site from the "Entertainment" pull down menu under "Other Entertainment".

Realto has been closed for over a year. They say renovations, yes but contractor had to wait to see if they were gonna be allowed apartments all above Spanish Springs. Commission turned that down, now they can finish Realto. Might have had stairs to go to apartments through Realto area.

Agree but.... be careful of the green jealousy dragon. That's exactly what our "leaders" on all sides want, to see us gradually sink into envy and resentment and even turn on each other. Capitalism takes care of most things, if a burger is raw or overdone, you can walk with your feet to the next place, if a movie house charges $15 for popcorn and a Coke, people walk to their home theaters where the refreshment stand has ALL their favs (lol), and when really "good" films (that is such a qualitative variable) are made, people will go. My opinion ? I really miss "epic" films, does anyone else ? Films like Dr. Zhivago, The Last Emperor, Dances with Wolves, The Deer Hunter, Far From the Madding Crowd, on and on, just listing a few makes me think of how much I miss them.... and the first "epic" my parents took me to see in the "big city" ; The Greatest Show on Earth. Our small town showed mostly serials & "cowboy" movies, nothing like The Greatest show on Earth.

I hope the Developers do not push the Rialto and Barnstorm Theater into some other kind of establishment.
For the growing population of the Villages, we need more movie theaters, not fewer.

I figure it will take 3 or 4 weeks just to get all that stuff they have been putting in there every week, every time they show construction in the Villages, they say they are still installing interior stuff.

With the advent of conglomerates, I believe capitalism has died. Chance are if you don't like something and decide to buy something else, the same conglomerate owns that company too.
