We'll be moving in most of out furniture in the next few weeks. Do we have to get approval or show a Certificate of Insurance prior to our move in?
Thanks in advance...

We did nothing of the sort when we moved into our home. Not sure if we avoided something we should have done but we notified no one.
We own the home - things might be different for a rental

I'm pretty sure you have to show insurance before or at closing. Are you asking if you have to show the moving company that you have insurance?

This thread is confusing. If you are renting, the lease may require you to have insurance. If, you are buying with a mortgage, the bank may require you to have homeowners insurance. But, I don't know why a moving company would require you to have insurance.

No, we are owners and we have homeowners insurance.
Our mover asked if THEY need to provide proof of insurance on TV property.
I know they need to show it when moving into a condo, but I wasn't sure about TV...
I didn't think they would, but I figured it would hurt to ask here... As y'all know everything... ;)

I'm pretty sure that they don't. When you move into a condo, they are using common area private property. But when you move into a house in The Villages, they are using a county owned road and your own personal property. So, it is really not Villages property.

When we became "frogs" (here until we croak ) and moved all our stuff, the moving company asked the same and if any restrictions. So I called (sorry don't remember who) The Villages and was told no restrictions except no "pod" type containers.

Interesting, I’ve seen quite a few pods in the Marsh Bend and DeLuna areas over the last year and have been planning to use one myself at some point. Folks have been good about getting them emptied and removed quickly and they didn’t seem to create any issues.

The people who owned my home before I bought it a year ago had a couple PODS in the driveway for a week or two after closing, with my permission. No problem. they were downsizing to another home in The Villages.

Agree. The moving co is the one who should have insurance

I've been told by neighbors that it's OK until someone complains then The Villages take action. There have been threads on this site where after moving in, someone complained/reported about removing all the grass replacing with rocks in a patio villa and The Villages made them change it back. I personally know of someone this happened to.
If ya feel lucky, do it but be very friendly to all your neighbors present and future. Or call to verify.

Same here. One of the re-sale homes we looked at had one in the driveway...
Go figure...

As I understand it Florida just passed or is processing a law protecting some users
from some Mover's abuses. Allegedly there have been cases where movers have held up
deliveries for more money, etc. I think this new law is meant to address issues like that.
I am not sure what the contents of law is but if you have any problems you may want to
look into it??

Agree with the above. I would add that I would want to see the movers insurance in case they damaged the furniture.

I don't know why your would ask here. Some guy or gal on talk of the villages told me has zero validity. I would call the villages administration. Depending on where your purchased villages home is, your moving van may need to use a particular gate or????
Can't be much fun driving around the villages lost with a huge moving van.

Lots of speculation and hearsay about pods. My deed restriction document doesn't prohibit them and I can't find anything about it on the districtgov.org website. So, where is it written that pods are not allowed?

Someone told someone that they heard it from someone that it was prohibited.

So, I interpret this sentence to mean that the moving company is offering to show you, the customer, their (the moving company's) proof of insurance, so that you know you (the customer) are protected in case of mishap.
Yes, you should verify that the moving company has sufficient insurance.

Oy vey...
No, I know the movers have insurance.
THEY wanted to know if they had to show anyone at TV, if there was some HOA that require it...
And why ask here?
Because it would seem than many, if not most of the people living here would have dealt with movers and would know if it was an issue...

Only if you will have a mortgage. If you paid cash for the house, it's your decision to have insurance or not
