Fellow Villagers living in El Santiago-
Please watch your speed when traveling on Enrique Drive. Remember, the posted speed limit is 25 mph. You're retired, what's so important that you have to drive 40 miles an hour while dodging golf carts and bicycles?
Show some consideration before someone gets hurt.

I go Buena Vista (35 mph limit) from Calumet Grove to Saddlebrook pickleball courts 5-7 days a week at approximately 7:15. Every weekday when school is in session the school kids and mostly moms with school kids fly by me at 45 to 55 mph on their way to The Villages Schools. Goes from Marion County to Sumter County, so two different jurisdictions to patrol. Slow down moms and kids!

Everyone is just in such a hurry to play the El Santiago executive course, with the oversized holes. It is the only course I have ever broken par in during my long time playing golf : )

You can post this 1 million times and people will do the speed they want...even if they get a ticket. Live with it as you can not change it.

I did not realize that the elite who do not have to follow rules, regulations, restrictions, or laws lived that far north. I'm shocked.

It appears to me that most speed limits and stop signs are treated as suggestions only

to ignore traffic signals and signs. Just stupid. And stupid doesn't have a name...just a lack of common sense....kinda like those people who stop for those on a side street even though they have the right of way. They think they're being kind, but forget about the 10 vehicles behind them...waiting.

PEOPLE ! Please stop at the stop sign on Harston @ Kerwood Loop! OK, now it should be fine and everyone will stop by tomorrow.

This is where defensive driving comes into play. Look around and be aware of what is happening and have a plan already formulated as to what you will do if someone is driving dangerously. Anticipate what the other drive may do unexpectedly based on how they are driving. If you drive like you are in another world totally oblivious of your surroundings you will get nailed one day. You can't do anything about the crazy drivers only what you can do to avoid them. I used to teach defensive driving in the Army and it was a fairly common course for civilians and military but I don't know if it is even available anymore. Probably one of those "Boomer" things that are SO out of touch now with the new reality and the hyper intelligent people.

So true. I've driven in many states and big cities in our country. I've driven in a few other countries and I've had to peak my defensive driving skills here in the Villages more than anywhere in the world. Thank god we don't live in a true residential area with children.

No one else seems to care about speeders or loud vehicles anyway.

If you stop at the sign when you come to an intersection, you won't have to worry about someone you feel is speeding. It seems that those in golf carts feel that their carts can't speed on residential streets because their peak speed is "slow." They also seem to think that stop signs don't pertain to golf carts, maybe because they think that being "slow" they don't need to stop at intersections. I have to keep my foot on the brake when driving through the neighborhood because of all the "walkers" with or without dogs that need a whole lane. And of course, we have many lawn care folks with trailers that take up a whole lane of the road.
Don't worry, be happy. :)
