Japan is also thrilled. Happy for him, even though, i would have loved Speith to win. Hope this win will tame down the Asian haters, and realize, we are all the same.

Sushi at next years dinner for former champions, my favorite, wish I was a former champion (only in my dreams). Well earned victory.

I read an interesting comment in the Guardian - apparently a very large contingent of Japanese press usually follow Hideki around the course. Because of Covid there were no Japanese press at the course this year. This may has lessened the pressure (real or imagined) on him.

Congrats! I graduated with a nice Japanese-American lady librarian and also hung around with a Chinese-American woman while at the U of Denver. One of the distinguished alumni of the U of Denver is Michelle Kwan the ice skater.
Have met various Asian-Americans at various other universities around the US. My third year room mate at the U of MN was a Korean medical doctor who had been in the Korean army as a physician. He was getting an advanced degree at the U of MN. Very nice man for the most part.
Glad to see that a Japanese man won the Masters this year.
I would have liked to see Jordan win.

Hideki is a well-deserved champion. There was a point where he could have crumbled and lost it, but he weathered through and proved that he was the best player this year. Congrats to him and the entire proud country of Japan.

People were the same before he won the masters.I had a large part of 40 years outside ofUSA including many years in Southeast Asia and Africa, I didn’t need to see some golfer win a trophy to realize we are all the same .My mother and father taught me that very early in life

Good for him, it’s a long time since he won. I think Spieth could have won that tournament. His course management was awful. Two many triple and double bogies taking risks he did not need to take along with poor concentration. Tiger has said many times you can not win a major on the first or second day but you can shoot your self out of it. Speaking of poor course management with a 4 stroke lead why did Hideki go for the 15th green in two. Could have laid up and walked away with birdie or par. The decision to go for it in two could have cost him the tournament. Where are these guys caddies.

I am really confused by this Anti-Asian stuff. I just googled this;
Who is harming Asian people? - Bing (https://www.bing.com/search?q=Who+is+harming+Asian+people%3F&cvid=cbc4511d5f0249faaf84dfafcdc3018a&aqs=edge..69i57.9083j0j1&pglt=43&FORM=ANSPA1&PC=DCTS)
Now I am even more confused.

I thought the caddies actions on 18 were touching and shows the respect he has for this most venerable course.

Gary Player's son, banned from Augusta.
Now being labeled as the most contrasting beginning/ending.
Wayne Player on the first tee, Matsu's caddie on 18 green.

I read that Matsuyama could become sports' first billionaire, due to the endorsements that now will come raining down on him in golf crazy Japan. I also read that Tiger's net worth is in the neighborhood of $800 million, so Matsuyama could be even richer than Tiger. Wow.

I believe that like a lot of other issues, Asian haters are few and far between in the United States. What we have these days is politicians and media making big deals out of little things. By that I don't mean that hating a person because of their race is a little thing. I simply mean that there is not as much of it as many politicians and media people would like us to believe.
In these days of the internet and 24 hour news, everything is blown out of proportion. I actually had an old friend of my say that he believes that there is more racism today than there was in the 1960s. That is a great example of the brainwashing done by the media.
In actuality, there is far less racism in this country now than there has ever been. It's just that we are constantly being made aware of every incident that occurs.
