We are just north of 466A off Morse. Put out nicely tied up palm branches last Wednesday afternoon. It's now a week later and they are still there. What the heck?

All we could find was maybe a Wednesday pickup but so far no go.

Anyone have a schedule?

I think they changed the trash pickup to twice per week, and there is no separate yard waste or cardboard box pickup schedule. But, I don't know why your trash was not picked up.

Last I read, tree limbs (which is basically what a palm frond is) can be no longer than four feet. Is that maybe a reason the bundled (tied up) fronds weren't picked up? Fronds are generally longer.

Make sure palm branches are laid out with the tip of the branches toward the street. This way the workers don't get cut/stabbed on the needles at the other end of the branch when they pick them up.

Well, a bit over 4 ft. Maybe 6ish.

Much less than anything we've ever put out before with no problems. Maybe 8 bunches with 4 or 5 in each.

So now I pay more and get less.
That's the new American way. We'll see tomorrow I guess.

While I represent the residents of CCD10 on the NSCUDD board that handles solid waste pickups, please do let me know of the status tomorrow on your pickup. I can and have followed through with NSCUDD customers to resolve their pickup issues. Staff is very responsive to board requests.

Please email me at rick.rademacher@districtgov.org if you still have a problem.

Thanks

Picks up in garbage day. They may be too long. We always cut palm fronds in half. They picked outs up yesterday with trash

Call the provider if no satisfaction call the district

must be in 4 foot sections. You must cut them up to 4 foot segments and there is no more Wed yard waste pickup since Oct. The POA and the Daily Sun and the Villages News and the district website all posted the information back in Sept

might be to large of bundles, try cutting them down and putting in the paper yard bags you can pick up at Lowes/Depot/Sams etc

This is not a large pile... past over again today. Much, much smaller than ever before, when we paid less for disposal.

Nothing unusual. Ok I'll cut into smaller bundles. Apparently it's a bit too long.

No joy here.

Rick, wouldn't it be nice if the businesses we work with had some common sense, and maybe someone could have rung this guy's doorbell and tell them to cut them up please? I'm just saying that my reasoning to complain is always to get something changed or fixed, not just to complain. Another simple idea is to have a door tag made up saying we came by but we couldn't pick it up because of XXX. Very similar to UPS / FedEx drivers.

Everything is picked up twice a week. You should be Tues. & Fri. No Wed. pickup.

Why not follow the advice in #7?

Call them and get a schedule and find out the rulesfor pick up. They have certain lengths and sizes that things must be wrapped. Better to get it from the horses mouth than reading all the guesses from everyone

Instead of spending the time to cut them up more, just called the phone number that’s on your VCDD bill for utilities and have them do a bulk pick up. It will cost you $10 but $10 is worth it to save your time and energy to cut things smaller.

I would call the company that picks up your trash. There is more than one. Ours is Waste Management. I don't recall the name of the lady I spoke to but she was helpful,
professional and nice to talk to.

If, there is a reason why they are not taking them i would guess they are too long or perhaps not well tied.

I am not sure that the Jacobs waste pickup people would or should be the correct people to talk with customers about issues. However, maybe they could leave a tag on the door to ask people to call the District to resolve an issue. Will discuss at the next board meeting in May.

I think they have to be 3-4 ft long and in a garbage bag otherwise you can call for a pick up if larger! Plus there are no Wednesday pickups anymore just the usual Monday and Thursday

We have just moved into the Lynn haven area and can say anything but wow “they took it all”. Had a few pickup days I was very worried about as my pile was way bigger than anyone on my street. But come morning the little dump angels have come and gone. Love it. :a040:

The issue is people don't follow rules!
:ho: Maybe discuss how to better educate the uninformed! The info. is out there...... maybe people need to smarten up a little????

Why don't you just try calling them and finding out why?

When we lived in Lake County (in the Villages) they picked up ANYTHING! No limits, unless it was too big or heavy for two guys to pick up, then you called Waste Management and they sent a large truck with a claw to pick it up. NO EXTRA COST! Why can't Sumter county do that?

Can I put my bulk items out with my household waste? Items such as office/desk or kitchen chairs, small lamps (bulbs removed) and ceiling fans (blades removed) can be placed with your household waste for disposal. Larger items such as appliances,
couches, flat screen TVs, microwaves and grills must be scheduled for pick up by calling Sumter Sanitation at (352) 748-0109. A charge of $10.00 will be added to your monthly utility bill for this service in the NSCUDD service area (Districts 1-11 in Sumter County, Marion County & The Villages of Fruitland Park). Bulk pickups must be cancelled at least 24 hours in advance of the scheduled collection date or the charge will apply. If you are unsure if you need to schedule a bulk pickup, please contact Sumter Sanitation at (352) 748-0109.

We have homes in both Sumter and Lake counties. Lake county has been easier to deal with regarding trash and recycle services.

I do recall calling Sumter some time ago to remove a clunky projection tv and they were great. I've called Sumter today and I just get the rules, albeit from a polite person who I thanked.

My wife is not pleased over the lack of whatever it is for recycling here. Yes, I know what the purpose is now. Thankfully it all cost more, especially for us snow birds who have less to contribute. Somehow we should be paying more for the inconvenience of them having to skip by our yard for 4-5 months.

She's a dedicated recycle person up in Maine. The land of bottle and can deposits.

No, I'm not from Maine.
