Anyone know what going on at Margarita Republic restaurant at Spanish Springs?
Have enjoyed their food and location, but ate there last week, and they were out of desserts.
Last night (Thur 530 pm) waiter informed us they were out of roast beef, hambugers, and again desserts. In fact only few items available.
Which Leaves speculation that they either have a serious supplier problem or cash flow problem or about to close.

IMHO, it wouldn't be a great loss. Prime location, sub prime product and a magnet for police issues.

Many and probably almost all service industry providers are struggling to keep employees. Everyone is understaffed. That starts at the companies providing the products and supplies to restaurants, salons, any aspect of the service industry. Wait staff, and other lower income paying jobs. The stimulus bill provided more unemployment and other funds to folks not to work. So very few are working. They make more money by staying home. I was in Bonifay yesterday and they wouldn't seat us even though the place was less then half full. Not enough help with wait staff or in the kitchen is what we were told. Culvers has closed the inside option and only doing take out. And this is happening at many other places. Look at the job ads to have your eyes opened.

Probably places where they are very slow to open the economy needed this type help. But places that have moved forward to open business and dining it is killing. And this will go on for another 93 weeks or almost 2 years. They needed a targeted solution not a one fits all solution. Many small businesses will fail because of this issue.

This is going on all over the country. Have relocated to NC and noticing the problem here, shelves not being stocked, no service personnel in restaurants, retail.
Daughter went shopping at Petsmart, Petco and Walmart yesterday. Couldn't find anything. Products were sitting on palettes on floor, unopened, because the stores have no one to restock the shelves.
Husband's Physical Therapist reports the "returns department" at Walmart closed because no one available to work.
Sister living in Pittsburgh is relating same problems there...... no workers in restaurants, retail.....
And, yes, a lot of it is the result of government benefits being paid.... the employee is making more money, sitting at home, collecting unemployment and the stimulus benefit added to same. Why work when you can make more money sitting at home?
Becoming a major issue and the result is not going to be good.

Ask the people working in restaurants and the answer is many people see no reason to work when the govt pays more to stay home.

Sadly the govt borrows the money to ruin these small businesses.

I go to Margarita Republic every week for trivia and have for years. The place is crowded inside and out and the waiter staff is the best they have ever had. They have a lot of staff. It is true that they have run out of items on the menu.

A major problem continuing to ruin many of America's small businesses....unfortunately the prospects for the future would indicate more of the same!!!

All the counties around me in Virginia can't find workers. HELP WANTED signs everywhere. Can't find employees.

Why? The government pays too good. When will they open their eyes and see there is work out there and quit acting like there is no work.

Is the problem that the government is trying to keep people alive or that these business need to start paying their workers a living wage?

Pay a living wage and they will not stay home. When you run a business on a shoestring sometimes you cannot make it stay tied. People who were kicked out of their job when Covid hit and the boss took stimulus and did not keep all their employees fell into a big hole. It is amazing how people get mad when someone gives them a helping hand to get out of the hole and help the kids who do not get fed regularly except at school. Affordable daycare helps the problem also.

They most certainly do have issues. The late night crowd gets very young and rowdy. There's a reason the police stay parked outside after 10pm.

Many states are still limiting at 25% capacity for indoor dining, knowing it’s difficult to be fully staffed in a pandemic. I believe that’s the CDC guidelines if your ratios of those contracting the virus, are at a certain level in the state. It’s not realistic to expect full staffing in a pandemic.

Raise the minimum wage so people make more by working. Both Trump and Biden recognized that these are extraordinary times for everyone and took steps to keep the country afloat. The next step is for businesses to compensate workers fairly so the government doesn’t have to.

Try later at night, after the square entertainment has ended. The crowd is made up of mostly non villagers. Don't believe the Police comment?, check out the online news source sometime.

That should be left up to the businesses. If they don't offer a fair wage they won't get good workers and will soon learn their lesson. When I was in business my workers were getting $15.00 for doing hard heavy work. If minimum wage went to $15.00 I would most likely lose half of them as they would simply go find and easier job meaning I would have to got up to $20.00 to keep them. Multiply that times millions of workers in this country and who is going to pay for all of that? Be thankful that there is no inflation at this time LOL.

Fact that restaurant ran out of some products appears to be a mistake made by the person who orders the food and not lack of staff. In these times food ordering is probably much more difficult as businesses are re opening and hopefully our lives will return back to "normal".

Someone needs to check out how many people in the general area who are not retired and will work in the restaurant and/or service industries. Birth rates over the years have been declining and I do believe that there are not enough young people available in this area to do this type of work.

Honestly, if I was in my late teens and 20's, the most likely age to be working in these places, and I knew there were so many CUSTOMERS who had the attitude that the reason we were short-staffed was that "my" generation wasn't willing to actually work for a living when we could get paid more to stay at home...

I wouldn't want to work there either. Who'd want to serve a bunch of uppity entitled old people who think I'm not deserving of respect? For minimum wage plus the tips that basically tell me "yes, I, the customer, am better than you are, here's some tuppence to prove it" Not me.

That's the attitude I read in this and other threads. I don't blame people for not wanting to work for companies that require they deal with the bunch of ya.

Wait a few years and automation and A.I. will solve that problem. In a few years, the problem will be an overabundance of young workers, not a scarcity!

I can not understand why anyone would want to eat at the Margareta Republic when the best Mexican restaurant in the Villages is only one block away. Ay Jalisco blows away anything that the Margarita Republic tries to pass off as real Mexican food. Don't wast your time at this place.

I have no issue with that... but are the majority of Villagers ready to pay more for their food and drinks? You can't expect the restaurant owners to absorb it.

I read an article recently about the nationwide problem that restaurants and stores are having, not able to hire enough employees. It said that trucking and delivery companies are also having that problem, and so deliveries are not always on time.

Could be what is happening here.

Not applicable to Florida. Our governor opened restaurants to full capacity many months ago.
