I have been to TV for three times and I have noticed each time there is more and more cars instead of golf carts which is one of my primary reasons of moving to the Villages. How does other residents feel about cars being driven around the Squares? One of the biggest selling points of the Villages is the golf carts. Does anyone else feel like the way I do?:rant-rave:

The cars in the squares are probably being driven by visitors who do not yet own a golf cart, or by people from outside TV. The town squares are open to one and all, even if they do not live within TV.

I always hoped that automobiles would be banned from driving around Town Square. There is plenty of parking behind the buildings where folks can park and then walk casually into the Square areas. Of course, the streets are public and the chance of a "golf-car only" rule is probably unachievable.

I wish they would ban vehicles entirely from the Squares -- leave it for pedestrians. It would be much safer and saner. However, I can't see that ever happening. As to there being more cars, I don't really think so. There's no question that more are driven when it gets hot -- carts are missing the "necessary" air conditioning. So, if your visit was recent, you're probably right that there were more cars.

It may appear that there are more cars than usual around the squares right now because it's difficult to get around in your cart from some areas while they're redoing the cart paths.

Red, that's a great idea. Ban cars and carts from the square. It is achievable. Other cities ban cars and turn the streets into pedestrian only walkways. It is happening more and more across the nation as towns try to rejuvenate their down town areas. It is more like the Europeans do in their down town areas.

Tell me why TV can't ban cars and carts from the streets around a square. Their is plenty of off street parking on the perimeter of the square.

I also would like to see limitations on autos on the squares. Maybe at evening and other high use hours. Would greatly improve ambience. My son lives in a condo development in Hong Kong (35,000 residents)that allows no autos- only golf carts and public transit. It is a pleasure to visit there.

I see no problem with cars at the squares. Fine the way it is.

I don't mind cars on the square either. I LOVE carts parked in and around the squares. To me, they add to the ambiance.

If I bring my MIniCooper to Florida, could I use it as a golf cart???

I don't mind the cars or motorcycles on the squares. I took a photo one day of a long row of really nice motorcycles parked on the square and sent it to the "kids" and with the caption, "Poor old retired people."

I'm sure you couldn't use it on the golf courses or cart paths, if that's what you are asking.

TV doesn't own the streets. They're open to the public.

There will be one more car in TV at the end of October

Make that two more.

(And if the statistic is correct, that 40% of the residents are seasonal, then maybe you can make that 20,000 more).

Apparently neither of you understand the walking limitations of many of us. I do not go to LSL because I need about six rest stops before I get any where near the square. And there are not that many benches. It is only four rest stops if I go to SS because the parking lots are closer.
I take my cart and park as close as I can.

I do not know what the problem is with carts/cars are at the squares. Look both ways before crossing and you will not have a problem.
