After giving Lowe's two more chances to install the carpeting after Lowe's HQ stepped in and having both attempts royally screwed up, I requested a full refund over the weekend so that this mess could be done with. I'm relieved to say they called my mom this morning refunding the money. Thank you again for all your suggestions, concern and private messages. Villagers are really good and kind folks.

That's a load of worry off your and your Mom's minds. Thanks for keeping us updated and for the education. We almost used Lowe's once for carpet but they didn't have what we were looking for, anyway, fortunately.

Thank you for providing the conclusion of this saga, a true lesson for all of us in tenacity.

I wish I could recommend a great installer for you, but I just took out all of our carpet and installed Mohawk Luxury Vinyl Plank flooring (from Lowe's) MYSELF, saved around $1500 not including any costs to move furniture.
