I have seen what I think is a swarm of love bugs today. Wait until the newbies get a load of these beauties.

Best tip I ever got: clean them off your vehicles with a wet dryer sheet. The chemical on the drier sheet cuts the acidity and helps remove the bug carcasses easier.

Being ex-northerners, hopefully you did not toss your ice scrapers. They are hard to find in Florida. Work great as love bug scrapers.

Love bugs must not taste good. Birds, lizards, bats, it is a catch one get one free deal and it does not seem to be selling well.

Beware, they do also squash on your radiator. It is a good idea to wash them off by directing a hose from the back of the radiator rather than forcing them further in.

Stock up on dryer sheets. When they hit your windshield, get dryer sheet damp they will wipe right off. Follow up with Windex.

friendly suggestion. WAX the front end of your car/cart. now. It will be SO MUCH easier to get the LB remnants off.

I put a good coat of wax on the car a few weeks ago. Back from roundtrip to Disney couple days ago - LB stuff on the front (not nearly as bad as it will be weeks from now, but). It was so easy to remove - I used a light spray of window cleaner and a quick wipe - right off with no elbow grease. NO STICKING!

Yes, yes, yes.....wet dryer sheets do the trick. I just cleaned off some love bugs this morning after a trip to Wesley Chapel yesterday. The bug remnants just melt off like "butta". I use an old wet terry cloth hand towel to wash off the dryer sheet residue then dry with another terry cloth towel. Works like a charm with no effort at all. I rinse off the dryer sheet residue within one minute as I work on cleaning the car. Wet dryer sheets is the very best method I have used and that includes "Bug and Tar" remover.

I've been seeing them for 2 or 3 weeks now. Just a few at a time.
The "swarm" hasn't hit yet.

A good idea but window cleaner usually contains ammonia and that will remove the wax.

Let’s see, in addition to lovebugs: cockroaches, fire ants, termites, palm rats, mating season for alligators, occasional black bears, sink holes, hurricanes, tornadoes, sand, flooding and as mentioned earlier, dog poop. Did I miss anything?

We put a "bra" on our car for the 2 x 1 month love bug season then take it off after it is over as we travel to Orlando and Gainsville during that time. It also has a hood protector (which we always leave on) and most road rocks and insects that hit that go flying over our roof. The fake leather "bra" is easier to wipe clean or wash off than the front end and the radiator.
