View Full Version : Closing up lanai for the Summer?

We just had our screened in lanai replaced with windows and were wondering what others do when they leave for the Summer. Small size, with northern exposure, so no direct sunlight to build up heat. If we close the sliders, there would be no a/c or ventilation going into the lanai. It would be a "sealed room". Any suggestions based on your experiences?

I have a west facing enclosed lanai with a minisplit and insulated draw drapes/curtains, slider has been removed. I pull furniture away from the wall , leave all ceiling fans on low and minisplit off. AC in house set at 80 , humidity at 60. Never a problem. This is a " cottage"house , Lanai is about 9x15.

A friend has a patio villa, east facing enclosed lanai. They bring all furniture in, close the door. Never had a problem, they have no window shades/covering.
