in order to, hopefully alleviate concern of TVrs now and in the future, here's how WE get our gasoline. One picture 1,000 words. But read the words too...
This all said, we certainly are NOT invulnerable - hurricanes in the Gulf, Tampa Port, pipeline from there to our area, trucks, etc etc.

Just passed the Marathon on 44 and Morse...all pumps were taken with a car or two waiting in line.

The usual panic stricken Village crowd (who hoarded toilet paper last year) are there topping off their tanks. God forbid they run out of gas...how are they getting to the Town Squares to drink all night?

I'm good for the next few weeks, filled up on Sunday before all this started and don't drive much, wife's car is good for at least 2 weeks and I just filled up my 5 gallons for the golf car on Sunday also so that will get her another nearly 200 miles or about 10 days. Not too worried at this point.

If you think this is restricted to the Villages, you're sadly mistaken. Look at N&S Carolina, Georgia and Virginia. Panic buying and hoarding are human nature for thousands of years. Just think 1500's tulips.

I don't see how this will alleviate people's concern about shortages in The Villages. How do you know that some of the gas will not be diverted by sending trucks to other areas outside of Florida?

No gas at the Circle K on CR466. Drove by on way home from Doggie Doo Run Run.

I can do a lot with the golf cart but cannot get to Doggie Doo Run Run.

Thank you for posting! I'll get gas next week ! Seems that all the loose contaminates in the Gas Station fuel tanks pass by the low level Gas station filters, and are making it into the passenger cars. Fuel injectors hate water, and O2 sensors are very sensitive to foreign combustion materials... 6 months from now , many " toppers" will be lining up at the repair station! Karma can be a real bitch..

I filled up my golf cart with no lines at all, at the Villages Golf Cars around an hour after their garage closed for the day. It's card only - no cash, and no one to help you fill the tank. It's also ethanol-free only, so you wouldn't want to fill up a can for the lawn mower with this stuff.

The only thing wrong with that gas for the mower is the price........otherwise it's perfectly fine to use.

I hate to break it to you but there is no "6 months" waiting period.

Contaminated fuel will shut down an engine in a few miles, tops.

Fuel is filtered from the refinery to the distributor.
It is filtered from the distributor to the truck.
It is filtered from the truck going into the tank.
There are strainers/pre-filters in the main pump tank itself before going to the pumps.
There is a last chance filter in the pump.
There is a filter in your car.

No sediment is making it anywhere.

What does get introduced into the tanks is water. This comes from the delivery guy who doesn't seal the lid properly or a tank that is somehow compromised.

There is a filling station off of the NJ turnpike just before the George Washington bridge that fills the tanks on busy days 5 or more times because gas in NJ is still much cheaper than NY. There is always fuel going into and out of the tanks, pretty much all day long.

It USED to be a problem with old steel tanks and rust and pumps with no filters. This is not a problem any longer.
