My dentist was just dropped by United Healthcare as a provider and I'm searching for a new UHC in-Network dentist. All I typically need is a regular cleaning but one of the major dental firms in the area requires a deep cleaning which is very costly. Does anyone have any recommendations ?

Get a second opinion about needing the deep cleaning from a dentist outside of The Villages. I use Dr. Lunsford in Leesburg, but I doubt that he is in your network.

I have dental insurance now under Aarp United Health care medical, and the plan is under Dentegra. Needed some dental work done, and am currently going to Ammy Rossman at East Hamlet Dental on Bichara Blvd. 352-391-9897. So far, I'm very pleased with the treatment I've been receiving.

Like too many things, deep cleaning which is very costly. Perhaps the correct term is PROFITABLE FOR THE DENTIST. Is it necessary, justified or did he just see the bill for his kids college?
"But, one of the major dental firms requires a deep cleaning which is very costly," I don't know how to read that. They told you before seeing you that you must get a deep cleaning? If, that is so, I read that as we have more than enough patients. If, you want to use us we will EXTORT you for the cost of a deep cleaning. If, that is the case I would find another dentist. Sounds like a liar, thief and a crook IN A WHITE COAT.

I never even heard about deep cleaning until I moved to The Villages. The Villages dental office I went to wanted $1,200 for a deep cleaning, which included a 90 minute procedure performed by a dental hygienist, with no dentist involved. Both my long time dentist in Virginia and my new dentist in Leesburg said that I did not need the procedure. This is a cash cow for dentists in The Villages.

Try Lake Miona Dental Care on 466 next to Verizon. I also have UHC and they participate. Proficient and thorough. Dr. Shields is awesome!
