Have a question about upgrading refrigerator in a Colony model patio villa. Had a friend offer an older side by side refrigerator still in great condition. Did all the measuring and it would fit in the opening. Made the move, it fit, looked good and now had in door ice and water. Go to admire our new beauty & the freezer door will not open enough to get a container of ice cream into the freezer. :faint: Looks like other than a small top freezer style refrigerator you can not upgrade from the near basic fridge that is standard. No indoor ice and water style.

Has anyone else had this issue and were you able to come up with any resolution short of cabinet remodel. Thanks for any info up front.

In the two Colony models listed for sale, the refrigerator is located against the wall so that the top and bottom doors open toward the wall. You need a few inches of space between the side of the refrigerator and the wall for the door handles. If you want a side by side unit, I would look for a refrigerator with a smaller width and with the freezer door on the side that doesn't open against the wall. Refrigerators are available in different widths. I think you can get a side by side with about a 32 inch width.

we bought a side by side/ice and water in the door, Frigidare LFSS2312TPO, 23 cubic foot, from Lowes, $900. We have a 2021 Colony villa. Fridge and freezer open fine, not all the way like it possible could, but enough for pizza and ice cream.

If the countertop hangs over it can be cut off to give a little more room. The top and bottom cabinets should line up with a little overhang by the actual counter top
