We're newbee villagers in St Catherine. We closed back in March and found it difficult to find furniture in stock in most places around the villages. We could order but since we're snowbirds that wouldn't work since we're back north now and eveybody wanted full payment before placing an order. I just wasn't comfortable paying in full for four rooms of furniture not knowing when or if I'd ever see it, and finding a way to take delivery not being there.

So it looks like we'll be ordering in Oct when we're there for next winter, hopefully inventory is better then.

Who do TOTV folks reccmmend?

Thanks

We used Babette's in Leesburg, 4 years and not one problem with any of it and free designer service. Mattresses are from The Original Mattress Factory.

Don’t get ripped off by $hitty Furniture, I mean City Furniture.

Furniture stores have a unique personality or personal preference, and you may shop several before you find one that fits you. We’ve been here since.2005, and many have come and gone over the years, including Southern Lifestyle in Sumter and SS. Between Leesburg and Ocala, there are several that you’ll simply walk in and out because their furniture collection doesn’t work for you.

We've recently purchased furniture from Hudson Furniture on Rte 200 (3402 SW 36 Terr) in Ocala, next to Home Depot.). It’s worth checking out, as well as, Family Furniture Galleries, 8626 US-441, in Leesburg.

We had a several terrible experiences with City Furniture. Quality of furniture was less than acceptable, delivery process was bad, and customer service was horrendous. Will not buy from them again. I have heard good things about Babettes.

Babett's hands down.
They have a sister store "Life Styles" next door in Leesburg.

We have walked thru Family Furniture a few times, just didn't purchase.

Furniture like many other things right now is in short supply. We ordered a bedroom set from Babette's back in December. Thankfully it was all in stock by the time we closed in April. We also ordered some furniture from their sister store, Lifestyle by Babette's and are still waiting on a few items.

We also found a few treasures at Almost Perfect Furniture in Summerfield. They sell both new and used furniture. What you see is what you get but at least it's in stock.

A buddy of mine just closed on a new house and he told me that the only place he could find what he wanted, without an eight month wait, was Hudson's Furniture click here (https://www.hudsonsfurniture.com/stores/hudson-s-furniture-oca).

Let your fingers do the walking. Check out stores online to see if their style suits yours and price. Used furniture does not look good in a new build house. JMO

Before you purchase - check out Kent Furniture - up the hiway in Belleview - between Summerfield and Ocala. https://kentfurnitureinc.com/

Furnished or home when we bought and they could not have been more helpful with the entire process from showroom to delivery!

We bought everything from City Furniture and love it. We picked everything online and then visited the store to look at it. After closing we went to the house and the very next day the furniture came. They did keep a couple pieces on the truck because they were damaged but we scheduled those for the next trip down. Bought bedrooms, den set, living room, dining room and 4 stools for the bar all for about $7500.

Kent furniture had everything we needed and wanted. My sister also used Kent.

Ordered in October 2020, delivered in November 2020. Capri is a brand they carry which is made in Ocala so we got our custom couches quick. I highly recommend Kent.

Some of our furniture we brought down from up north when we moved.

I have some antique furniture, that's my personal preference. An piano-top desk built somewhere in the mid-1800's, a cabinet my great-grand-uncle made, a couple of antique cane-back chairs, etc. etc. Most of the rest of our furniture came from consignment stores. You'd be amazed at the high quality of some of the furniture people are willing to part with for cheap.

Babette's. They will loan you a sofa while yours is being made. Not sure they will loan you a whole house full of furniture! The entire country is having a backup of furniture orders, not just the Villages. Welcome!

Bought living room furniture a Babettes a few months ago and luckily the items we wanted were in stock. Sales person said if it had to be ordered it would be a 5 to 6 month wait. They had a recliner that was so comfortable I nearly fell asleep while trying it out. 10 month wait for it.

I ordered my furniture (Babette’s) for delivery (hopefully) soon after my settlement. Could you order now for delivery when you return?

We were lucky to be here when Southern Lifestyle was here. We bought a couch from Kent, they dropped the couch off the back of the truck, breaking the arm, and back of sofa. They wanted me to except it and to send repair guy. They brought the same broken couch back 2 times. Refused, took me 5 months of trying to get new one, gave up Amex got involved and finally got a credit.
Stores just don’t have a delivery date for certain things. Our friend works for major furniture distributor. He is in The Carolinas next week for conference, and knows what we are looking for. Will zoom with us as to what can be shipped from there. Have to wait for the truck to be full for delivery, but should be here in 2 weeks, It’s good to know people

High Point NC is still known as the furniture capital of the world. We split our purchase amongst three companies: Good's Home Furnishings, FurnitureLand South, and Babette's. Prices out of North Carolina were generally much cheaper than Babette's and that including white glove delivery and taxes. Delivery time was also better, I'm guessing because of their volume. The only quality issues we had was from babette's, and again I'm guessing because of their warehouse handling. If I had to do it again, we would give the entire order to the two NC companies.

Well, we bought a dining room table and chairs on a Saturday. It was delivered the next Thursday... No problems at all...

Granted, that's one encounter, but it is what it is...

For wood furniture we buy Amish. There are several online stores and yes they deliver. Built by Amish sold and delivered by English. English, that's non Amish, like the residents of TV.

Upholstered furniture comes from Costco, usually Costco online home delivery.
