We need law enforcement to make examples of these people. Actually, why is there NO parking encirclement? Been here almost 4 years and I’ve never seen a cop write a parking ticket in the villages.

Parking is at a premium, especially when the snow birds are here. Nothing against them whatsoever; I’m glad to have the crowds and revenue injections! However, I see way too many idiots that cannot parallel park to save their lives.

I agree, I think there can be a sense of entitlement.

The parking spaces here in TV will fit an extended bed, club cab pickup with ease. Why someone cannot fir a tiny car in there makes no sense.

I don't know WHY they park like that, but if you want parking policed, it has to be on public land and you have to pay someone. One of the reasons this place is both beautiful and affordable is that the people who figured it out don't waste a lot of money. I love the developers. I have never met them but I hope to some day.

That is probably right. People with Bikes and Carts tends to respect each other and the fact that they can share spaces. If I saw a 'normal' Cart parallel parked that would be annoying. Those limo carts are the only ones that need that room....

Yeah, guy in the car was wrong and should not have parked in two spots.

Do we really need such large spaces? Not a traffic or parking engineer but they seem extremely long. There looks to be enough space for the car to move up, the motorcycle to stay, and a cart to park next to the motorcycle.

The white car and the blue car on the other side also look like they may be parked over lines as well.

Yeah, guy in the car was wrong and should not have parked in two spots. Is it known for a fact which vehicle parked there first? Maybe the Harley got there first and intentionally left room for another car or for golf carts? When I pull into an empty space with my golf cart I always park in the middle so no car will park there but only other carts. Besides, the spaces in The Villages are probably twice the size of a normal town street parking spot. I always LMAO watching people hitting the curb when parallel parking when the spots are so large they can drive right in. Some guy popped the bead on his car the other morning at LSL trying to "fit in" to a spot twice the size of his car.

If the car arrived at 3AM and there was no one else on the street then he/she was wrong and should not have parked in two spots.

If the Harley was there first and the man/woman in the car tried to squeeze in then they were wrong and should not have parked in two spots.

It is not known which vehicle was there first, but it is known that the person in the car was wrong and should not have parked in two spots.

No need to assume rude behavior in this particular case since we don’t know the entire story. However, get rid of all the parking space “lines”, except for designated specific uses (handicap, loading, etc. ). Do we really need lines to tell us where to park? I know many people will say “get back in the box”, literally.

The car is also more than a foot away from the curb. No idea what the rule is in Florida, but up north that's grounds for a parking ticket.

As long as he's not boxing anyone in, it's not -that- big of a deal. There's a golf cart in the space behind him, a motorcycle in the space in front of him, so it's not like he's preventing anyone from parking in either space. It's annoying, but nothing worth calling the press over. If it happened while I was walking by, I'd probably mutter "idiot" under my breath and get over it.

I once got yelled at for parking too far over to the left or the right in a supermarket lot, until I explained to the guy yelling at me that the guy on my left to right it'll also parked too far over and I was just fitting in. However in this case I think it's a matter of someone being too damn lazy to find another spot and they don't want to walk, as much parking as there is, some places in the villages with theaters in auditoriums and restaurants simply do not have enough spaces for all the old people who can't walk far.

People complain about them because those law abiders are frustrated and need to vent so they don't become like those they are complaining about. Curious? Unless you saw both cars park, who get the ticket? Where were the cars before these two parked? If they were across the lines theses two may have simply filed in the available space. Absent knowledge of the prior situation you could well be giving a ticket to a good Samaritan. Are they squeezing two vehicles in essentially one space and making the best of what was there? I do believe our police have better things to do than investigate possible traffic violations. After seeing the original thread I’m reminded of Forest Gump, “Rude is as rude does”. Rise above it and move on.

Are you joking or is this sarcasm... it’s difficult to call it a space without lines. I do agree without knowing the situation you really don’t know why these vehicles parked the way they did. Somebody was really thinking smart by making the parking spaces in TV slightly larger to accommodate its senior population IMHO.

The streets around the TV Squares are apparently public not private. You can get a ticket for sitting in your cart and drinking alcohol, however, never saw it enforced. When it comes to “enforcement” careful what you wish for...

The parking spaces here in TV will fit an extended bed, club cab pickup with ease. Why someone cannot fir a tiny car in there makes no sense.

There is a reason why 99 percent of cities, towns and parking lots are now diagonal parking. Parallel parking is no longer part of driver training so younger healthy drivers were never taught and never have to learn. Older drivers (Villagers) who can't turn their arthritic necks to see where they are going just back up until they bump something. Hopefully it's the curb and not your vehicle. The developers really should have considered this when putting in parking.

So what exactly are you seeing Wrong with this picture? You mention Parallel parking, but I don't see any real issues here. The black car is over the line of the parking space might be the only thing wrong, but there are Carts behind the car. Carts and motorcycles do not Parallel Park. The Motorcycle should have its rear tire to the curb, but I don't see that as anything that would aggravate anyone.

There IS always plenty of parking - as long as you are willing to WALK (and get some exercise) to your destination. Yes, people here (where there is lots of parking), can get a little LAX in their parking technique. But, it is NOT a big enough problem to want to bring it to the attention of ALL the people in this forum. It IS probably a PERSONAL PROBLEM that talking to a Chaplin or psychologist could help with.

And to suggest that people print cards implying that Helen Keller parked that way is down right mean.
To jump to conclusions that people are intentionally out to infuriate you is what is wrong with our society.

Are you saying there is no way for the driver of that car to be aware that he/she parked in two spots? What "other side" is there to see?

This wasn't simply misjudging the length of the car and parking a few inches over the line; 1/3 of the car is in another parking spot.

I don't like the excessive landscaping on the roundabouts, but I would NOT get irritated at a post that does NOT agree with me. I don't like loud commercial lawnmowers, but at least, I understand that I am the outlier here. And I won't be able to change it. This parking business is just a PERSONAL pet peeve and the outlier here.

Really ......if you been here that long then you understand the 1 1/2 length in a parking space. Yes it is a bit far from curb but not enough to get upset about.....

I don't know WHY they park like that, but if you want parking policed, it has to be on public land and you have to pay someone. One of the reasons this place is both beautiful and affordable is that the people who figured it out don't waste a lot of money. I love the developers. I have never met them but I hope to some day.
The roads in The Villages are not private property, they are county property. Don't believe me go to the CDD orientation, you will learn that there.

All of these posts, this thread and others, demonstrates why I never park in those spaces along the roads in the squares. I park in the parking lots behind the buildings. And when I'm too old to walk the extra 200 steps, I'll walk it anyway with one of those walkers with the tennis balls on the back legs.
I have never parked my car along the street either because my car has never been to the squares. We always go by golf cart.

Who cares. Worry about something with significance. One thing I’ve noticed about TV is some people are miserable and just love to complain.

Enjoy the beauty and the lifestyle and don’t let little things that will have no affect on your life bother you.

Considering the severity of the “offenses”, this may be one of the most ridiculous threads of all time imo. :D

It's a chain reaction from the original badly parked car IMO.

The only problem I can see with a parking encirclement (whatever that is)is somebody would be told to park in the corner, and spend hours driving around confused.

We've been in The Villages for almost a month now. The only grumpy people or complainers I've encountered are here on this forum. Everyone I've met in person has been upbeat and happy to be here. I guess I'll be spending even less time online now.

I always think of online forums like this as places where too many people feel free to act like they never would if they were sitting in front of you. I agree that the people I meet in person seem to try to live up to the ideal of America’s Friendliest Hometown, for the most part, while too many folks online seem to be determined to make it America’s Trolliest Hometown.

I think the white lines were painted after the car & motorcycle were parked.

If that is something that REALLY bothers you, I think you have deeper seated issues to resolve. We don’t know what was there before, and maybe the car parked that way because what was there before was hanging over. Then the motorcycle saw a space and fit in. Just shake your head, call them silly and move on. You can’t let every little thing ruin your day, you will live a miserable life with the glass half empty. Kinda like road rage, someone cuts you off, does you wrong, if you get angry and push back, now YOU are stooping to their level. Again, shake your head for their ignorance and let them be on their way. You’re now free to go about your journey without aggravation and let the a’hole be on theirs. Life is too short to sweat the small stuff.
